Hey guys, I have a question about my part time 4x4, 1994 xj country. I was out today...finally got some snow here...and I put it in 4wd hi and I noticed she was whining, I didn't think much of it cause I rarely run 4wd. Anyway, trucking along and feeling good to be out when not many others are...clanking and grinding begin...sounds like the chain is rattling around. I quickly put her in 2wd until I need 4wd again, fine and then acts up again. So, I replaced the chain about 3 years ago...is there a tensioner or something? Seems like it did this more when letting out of the gas. Sorry so long winded...any ideas? Thanks guys

Default Changed the heater core, now no power to interior cluster

I have a 99 grand cherokee I replaced the heater core, it was a little crazy then one of the kids took the ground cable when I wasn't looking I put it back together and heard a clicking and saw the dash go crazy. I quickly disconnected the battery. Took everything back apart and put the ground on.
I went to start it and I have no power to the dash, radio windshield wipers and nothing when i try to start. I have power to the horn and the lights. Can someone help me in the right direction. I checked the main fuse 17 and it was good. Which relays should I be looking at? What else should I look at?
And not sure if this is how I am supposed to ask a question but I just need some help here

I have a couple odd questions. Did Jeep ever offer a seat belt extension mine just barley fits. Also has anyone ever put a bench seat out of a Comanche in a XJ?

Side note for the uninitiated: Always remove the fill plug first to make sure you can. Draining the fluid and then stripping the fill plug is a bad combination.

Even if it didn't...which I assume it does, would that cause it to jump out of 4wd? Although I assume, the fact that it was whining does raise the question if oil is there or not.

Oh yeah, he does...That's why I'm here, I have learned a lot here just reading stuff. I should've paid more attention to checking oil in my transfer case though

Question Tune up question.

So I just got my first jeep. A 1996 grand Cherokee with 240k. And the fella I got it from had changed the plugs, wires, distributor, crank sensor, air filter, and eventually the ground problems that was causing it not to start. Lucky for me someone else had to find out the hard way it was a ground.
Now my problem is it stumbles and dies if you rev the engine a little and let off. If you peddle it, it will eventually smooth back out. I'm so rusty on my mec. skills I don't remember what else to change as far as a tune up or what would be causing it to die.
Any other common problems I should look for or fix?

Changing all the fluids and fuel filter now.
