Do I need to take the door apart to do this or just on the edges where the window will ride/down the insides?

Nah. Just roll it down.

Spray the exposed vertical glass runners liberally with the silicone spray. Then at each front and rear one. spray more so it runs down the fuzzy channels into the door.

Yup. Just did this recently after the brutal winter we had. Plus the silicone spray comes in handy with other hinges tok
