Depending on where the leak is at on the master. You are going to have to look under the jeep and see where it is wet or dripping from more than likely it is from the slave cylinder. Look at the bell housing. Also look for any abnormally wet areas (good thing to do every once in a while)

I bought a new seal I'm gonna play with a little bit.

No door sagging problem though.... Both doors have perfect alignment since I shimmed them when I bought it.
Thanks for that info! I need to re-shim my driver door, but my weatherstripping is flattened out really bad as well. I don't really care about water getting into the jeep - I ripped out the carpet a long time ago. But when you're on your way to work and water drips through the top of the door onto your work uniform, it's a little bit of a pain!

Before i had a 2003 jeep grand cherokee 4.0L I6... i had a 2007 dodge ram 1500,
i cut the cats out of my dodge, it was a 3.7L v6 and got 40mpg highway and was a 6 speed, I know! sounds hard to believe, but happened.

Any how besides all that, When i get on the highway, going up to speed, smell super MASSIVE GROSS rich smell of gas. been thinking the cats are clogged, and not enough air flow out of the motor and be running rich. pisses gas like no other, get 5mpg city, 15 highway. (NOTE) Every sensor, vacuum line, gas lines, etc has been checked and / or fixed.
I know there is 3 cats, but the very last one right before the muffler, has no 02 sensor. Why would a 3rd cat be down there if no sensors are anywhere near it? :Help:
Can i just cut it off? release some backpressure? Where i live at no one gives a crap in the world what you do with your exhaust, does not matter if its all straight pipe, any serious help would be appreciated
Well, the reason you haven't seen a good answer on this is because it's not supposed to be discussed on here. Forum rules prohibit discussion on modifying any pollution-control or emissions measures. I will say it's odd that you have the 2 pre-cats and no downstream sensor after the cat. I would check and make sure you don't have a wire dangling somewhere as someone may have cut the thing off. I believe the 3-cat XJs are California emissions jeeps and if I remember correctly, there's supposed to be a downstream O2 sensor after the final cat.

Also, keep in mind - there may not be any State mandated emissions inspections, but it's against Federal law to remove emissions-control devices. Glad you decided to register on the forums though - welcome!

No O2S installed after the downstream Cat. Designed that way.
.
I tried to find the reason that downstream Cat was installed but found nothing.

In 2000, there was "California Emissions" with pre-cats and "49-state" with just the primary. In 2001, every XJ got Cali emissions pack

Any sort of time savings that I can do, I would like to do. If I could get the bottom end done before hand I would prefer that. Its my pseudo daily driver, I have another car which isn't as reliable.

Default Dana 40 front axle and a Ford 9 inch rear end

So I'm thinking about buying a 79 Bronco for $500 just so I can take the axles from it and swap them over to my 99 XJ. The front axle is a Dana 40 and the rear is a Ford 9 inch with a locked differential. Does anyone know if these will fit on my Jeep? I will also take the transfer case from the Bronco. Will that fit also?

no it isn't bolt on but if u can do welding, u can make it work. The jeep 231 transfer case is better than the one in the ford.

Thanks for the info guys. Surprising there was no downstream O2. Figured they'd want to monitor the mixture after the cat as well.

205 is gear to gear, right? I hear everyone talkin' about wanting 205s on heavier rigs so it must be pretty good.

Yeah I've got a couple of people nearby selling 242s for decent coin. One is close by for 100 bucks and the other is about 45 min away for 50
