Used to buy all Snap-On when I had my own business.

Now I don't seem to need many new things.

GEN light means the system voltage is below expectations. A lot of vehicles (earlier XJs, my stupid 2001 VW) just throw it on whenever voltage is below about 13 VDC
By cranking several times, I mean 30 or 40 times in the morning....lol. New battery, new ignition switch, new fuel pump, all new sensors, new everything except Alternator and Starter since they are doing what they are supposed to do.

I use all sorts of brands, usually whenever I can find deals. Main thing is to look at the warranty you are offered. Mac, matco, snap on, ting, and the other elites are great tools, but for the average consumer you will mostly likely never need anything of that quality. Craftsman, proto, kobalt, husky, northern tool, and even some harbor freight stuff are good for the weekend mechanic.

Will the jeeps self diagnostic test tell me why the abs is on?

Also what is the drive cycle length on these till the light will go out?

I'm looking at radiators on rockauto and some of them list themselves as "heavy duty cooling" what does this mean? I am just looking at a 1 row OE replacement since I don't do anything crazy in it. I would do a heavier duty cooler if I had absolutely zero mods to make when I installed it.

How "get what you pay for" are these? I'm willing to spend more so I don't have to do it again in 2 years.

No such animal. You'll need a scanner that knows ABS and/or eyeballs to check the brake system. Does your reservoir have fluid in it?

That's a funny question. The parts books and FSM aren't exactly clear on just WTF "heavy duty cooling" means when it comes to the radiator. The easy answer is to dig up your factory build sheet. If it's any consolation, the 1998 XJ Parts Fiche only lists different radiators for with or without "Max Cooling". Can't figure out the difference. I say just get the Max Cooling if you can. There are different rads for auto and manual of course.

No idea... probably the same as everything else. I'm lucky enough to have no leaks and no overheating lol

Sounds good. I see some list "No AC" does that mean it won't have an attachment point for my AC cooling fins or whatever is bolted up there?
