Default steer me clear of problems

I have a stock 97 XJ.
It will never have over a 3" lift or have any larger than 31" tires. ever!

I want to do a tie rod flip only on the driver side.

it does not matter to me if I use the tapered cones or the stepped inserts.

What I want to know is:

I want to use the
http://www.rustysoffroad.com/rustys-...-xj-tj-zj.html
for this mod.

they tell me it will not work......... I just do not see how it can not work for me.
Will the tie rod hit the wheel? if that is the problem; how much of a spacer do it need?

can anyone help please?

I did make them use a torque bar for 60 ft.lbs before they drove it out. I watched. Then I torqued them myself with my torque wrench to 100 ft.lbs.

I did last night. They said all tires zeroed out except one (which they said was only a little off), and one rim appeared to wobble on the balancer. My rims were not bent before.

Thanks for the response zeecherokeeman

Anyone else that can give a more definitive answer why? Or has done tie rod flips before with larger tie rods?

Weeelll sorta. What I mean is that alloy rims don't really bend, they shatter

Five U joints, and yes/sorta. The joints at the double-cardan may be a different spec from other three on account of the centering ball, but you can just order 5 of those and use them universally.

Well, at least it still means ot is doubtful that they are bent. Lol

One more question (I'm gonna get them balanced elsewhere) but do people normally need a road force balancing for their tires? Or does a regular old one usually do fine? Theyve done fine for me so far...

Im not sure if year makes a difference, but when I re did my front driveshaft I got 3 of the same U joints and they were the right size. I think the spicer 1310 IIRC but don't quote that cause its been months since the order.

edit: Heres the ones I ordered for my 01 IIRC. great service and good prices too.

Im not sure about road force but they need to at least spin the suckers at highway speeds and make sure the numbers balance out right. If they didn't do just one thing right...and also what YOU can do real fast as a quick test. Rotate tires front to back and see if it still happens. Theres always a chance 1 tire is defective.
