Just did a rc 3" series 2 lift on '91 xj. Notice VERY slight vibes. Not positive it is from lift or just from redoing the entire tire/suspension setup on my rig. Went from stock to 3" w 31's. What will it hurt to just let it go. Shoot my u joints? Leave me stranded on the trail. I have three lil boys that i take with me all of the time so needs to be reliable. And a wife that will kill me if we have to carry them home!! Tia!

Thanks, Jon
P.S I know it's a stupid question, but bear with me while I learn.

EDIT: I think I need 2 1/4 not 2.5

Would this fit then?

don't get dual outlets. There's not enough room to run dual outlets on an XJ without modifications. You need center inlet, offset outlet muffler. Stock piping is 2.25". I upgraded to 2.5" piping after the cat when I did mine for better flow/sound. Mandel bent piping also helps, as does a high-flow cat.

This is mine - Flowmaster super 40, magnaflow hi-flow cat, custom 2.5 mandrel bent tailpipe

Is it difficult to upgrade piping or is it a master of just putting in a different size pipe?

Thanks!
Jon

there's not a lot of room on the drivers side to run piping, and you also have to deal with the driveshaft and fuel lines.

possible, but not easy or cost effective

Its really just putting in a larger pipe. Its somewhat pointless if you ask me if you don't do a full header-back exhaust as the largest restrictions in the exhaust system are the stock exhaust manifold and down pipe.

Extended bumpers..... doesn't sound good to me but I would think you would have to do some major welding work to get an extended bumper to have any kind of strength on a XJ. I have not personnely seen an XJ with this, can you provide some pics?

no, unfortunately you can't, at least not without MAJOR frame and body modifications. The very early year XJs (1984-1986) weren't built to allow the 4.0L to fit in the engine bay.

So I was just driving down the road and a jimmy pulled up beside me...I was wondering has anyone ever it thought about ever using the tire carrier on the back of a jimmy...does anyone know if this would work on an xj...sorry just curious, it looks like it would be pretty compatible...

Oh yea xjs have tire carriers but they are a mod. Do a search on the forums for that build and someone might have it posted. I personally don't have one but I've seen them many times
