Not sure if this will turn into a discussion ... maybe I should have started a thread ... hmmm ...
Thanks guys.
the ring and opinion should still be good as long as there was no welding slag that was in the diff and tore up the gears.

Just a quick question, I drive a 1988 Cherokee Limited 4x4 with a 4.0 Inline 6 and someone kicked in my grill and broke it. I need to replace it and love the look of the newer jeep grills like 99 00 and 01 and was wondering if they would fit into mine? or would I need to do some modification to it or end up just getting the same one? Thanks for your help!

That's barely any damage! But wel just the cheer grill would b cheaper then getting the whole front clip believe me. I did the front clip swap. It pretty much just bolts right up lil flop on the bottom portion for me. Can't tell. When you change front clip you gotta change all your wires. So If I was you id live with the front grill kinda broke or just go to the boneyard and get a new grill. It'll save you a lot of time and money.

Go to the bone yard I was gonna genome from them just the grill and they were only gonna charge me 15 or 20 bucks. But then I jus got the whole front clip instead.

Thanks! Yeah my jeep was pretty scratched up from trails and such and I had a different color front fender due to the original getting smashed on the trail. So this was the cheapest and in my opinion the best way to fix it.

No need to disconnect anything with respect to the steering.

The easiest way is to jack up the body and support it on jack stands behind the LCA mounts. Disconnect the shocks, brakeline retainers, LCAs at axle, and sway bar end links. At this point you should be able to step on the upper ball joint and get the axle to droop far enough to slide the spring out.

2000 cherokee, 41/2 lift, 4.0 I-6

I have some silly newb questions concerning the radiator.
1. Whats the best way to drain the radiator?
2. How much fluid does the cooling syestem hold?
3. Any paticular brand of antifreeze to get/stay away from?

I ask this because I'm led to believe I need to remove my Radiator to make it easier to take my engine (blown rod, maybe a damaged cooling jacket) out, is this true?

I know, I'm spelling challenged....sorry

1) lower rad hose I have found to be best way.

2) 12 quarts or 3 gallons whichever you prefer.

3)I prefer prestone global. you can mix it with any color antifreeze with no ill effects. I find it performs great under wheeling conditions. high rpm low speed

1. There usually is a drain on the left side or bottom, but the petcocks tend to break off. Best way is to just remove the lower rad hose.

2. 12 quarts (including 1qt in the overflow reservoir)

3. The traditional ethylene glycol antifreeze (the green-colored stuff)

It's definitely a good idea to remove the entire front clip and radiator. You have to disconnect it all anyways. Removal is extremely easy. Also will prevent damage to the radiator fins from tools, engine pieces, etc.
