If its been pushed in too much, it'll possibly be in the "closed door" position. In which case he needs to open the hatch molding and possible pull on the arm that open and closes that. I'm still curious if the actuator is trying to ope that or not

Lol doesnt look like that'd be too hard. His is hanging down almost as much as mine is. But if he is working with a early model there is no actuator like in the newer model. You gotta unlock it with the key. That is, if we're talking about the same thing.

Sometimes they just get stuck on the older models. Mine did and to took a screwdriver and pulled it out. Took a good little tug.

Took the whole piece out, ratchet strapped, zip tied and chained the hatch shut. The tooth will only move by the force of screwdriver. I will most likely have the zj the rest of my life, so I'm going to try and buy a new one.

Usually, pull the handle and forcing the latch open with a screw driver works just fine.

Front springs sagging on a 1998? New springs are always a good idea but its usually the rears that toast. What have you measured from hub center to the bottom of fender flare? (or if they're gone, top of axle tube to bottom of 'frame' rail

Torque specs for replacing ujoints on front axle shafts
1998 XJ 4.0
Getting ready to replace ujoints on the front axle shafts. I believe I have the right torque specs, but want to be sure.
Axle nut: 175 FT Lbs, Bolts holding hub to knuckle: 75 FT Lbs, Lug nuts
Are these values right, and is there anything else that should be torqued? Any words of wisdom?
