I am replacing the rear shocks in my friends 2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport. We are able to get the bolt that attaches to the axel off, but the two top bolts that connect to the body are stripping on us. What is the best way to get these bolts out??

I had that issue in the drive thru lane at the bank. I shut it off, went to start and nothing. A guy stopped to help and we noticed the connector had broke so we rigged mine up and it worked. I no longer have that jeep but will always remember those little wires off that relay.

Snap those things off with force, drill them out, then use a punch to break the weld nuts off of the body. You can fish some wire through really easily into that frame pocket, wrap the wire around the bolt and run the new bolts into the stock holes. You'll want to run a washer on each side of the new bolt, and use a lock washer to secure everything. It's way easier than trying to salvage the old ones.

What I did was drill a small hole into the bolt/nut (my nuts broke off[avoid this in real life]) and put a punch into the nut/bolt combo and nailed them into the body somewhere. When I tried to undo mine, the heads of the bolts just snapped off, so I was left with a stud.

There are some walk throughs if you search on google and this site, but I can't remember where they are right now.

Is it a direct swap or take some modification?

So... About my neighbors 98 xj 4.0. The jumpers were hooked up backwards and now it will just turn and turn but won't start. All relays and fuses are good. What do they do

Default AC removal

I've looked all over but can't find quite what I'm looking for, so if anyone can link me exactly where the answer is, that'd be rad. I'm removing my AC system. Going to use the compressor for OBA. That much I've found a billion things on. My question is this: what all can I remove from the AC system? I want to get rid of excess engine clutter, since the AC won't work anyway; however, I don't want it to do anything to my heating system, or anything like that. What hoses and components can I remove without affecting other systems?

Remove the lines, dryer and condenser.

Pull the terminals and scrape all the corrosion from the wires with a wire brush, spray with some sort of electric grease or whatever and put the terminals back on the ends of the cables. Put back on the battery and see if it starts. It worked for me one time when I dropped a wrench on my battery post to post and it wouldn't start after.

Edit****sorry might not work cause you said it does turn. Mine diddnt...might try it though!

How far back can I remove lines? And which ones? There is a little stainless steel looking thing with 2 lines coming from it on the passenger side of the engine compartment. Is that just for AC, or is that for something else as well?

You can unbolt them right off the fire wall. Then take out condensor, compressor, dryer and lines to from all those things

Yes, unbolt the lines from the silver block. unbolt them off compressor. then remove all the lines and the condenser in front of the radiator. Then start plumbing the compressor for OBA.

The heating is independant of the a/c. Remove everything forward of the firewall except the compressor
