Mind shifts hard when I shift from park to drive I hear a loud thunk. Could that be the problem?

But it sounds like its coming from the transmission. It does this on occasion.

I have a vibe coming from somewhere, it only does it under hard acceleration from a stop and then goes away after I get to speed, is this my tranny mounts or rear wheel bearings?

It could be the motor mounts. The jeep moves from side to side when its idling

Default 180 degree thermostat

I've read several threads where an owner installed a 180 degree thermostat instead of a 195 and then stated they drilled a 1/8 in. hole in that. What is the point of the hole? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of getting the lower temp. thermostat?
Can someone explain it in simple terms for a novice?
Thanks

The lil hole is to help air to bleed out.
