I will try to shoot some video tomorrow and capture the sound I am attempting to describe.
If I am driving at a constant speed and let off of the gas, I get a weird noise from what I think is in the drive train. It sounds like something is spinning and vibrating making a loud noise. When the RPMs drop to 1500 or so it stops. It last longer the faster I am going. This is likely because the RPMs take longer to drop to 1500. I have owned the Jeep for approximately 2000 miles/5 months and it has done it ever since I got the Jeep. I changed all of the fluids, t-case, diffs, trans, oil, etc, not long ago. No difference.
Any thoughts?
The Jeep is a 99, auto, 4.0, 4x4, c8.25 rear with 3.55 gears.

Agreed dont know how worthy wiki is. Heres another thread https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/chr...-ratios-74909/
and another

Most are leaning towards 3.55 but still not set in stone until I find legit info or he physically checks into the dana 35.
edit: first link is about 8.25

I watched some videos on Ujoints and it is a totally different sound. Not a clicking sound. Sounds something spinnngs and vibrating. I've checked the Ujoints and they seem tight.

Mine does the same thing. I think it the slip yoke sliding back and forth. I have all new u joints, so I know it's not that.
Final ruling, its either 3.55 or 3.73. If it doesnt say on the diff cover tag, you can try this-
"It's really easy to figure out your gear ratio and all you need is a couple of jackstands and a piece of chalk. Jack up the rear axle and secure it on Jackstands. Put your transfer case in N. put a chalk mark on one of the U-joint caps on your rear u-joint on the rear driveshaft. Then draw a chalk line on the inside of one of your rear tires from the rim out to the tread. Now, just turn your driveshaft by hand until the tire makes one full turn. You gear ratio is determined by the number of turns of the driveshaft it takes for 1 turn of the tire. 3 and a half turns to 1 = 3.55 gears. 4 turns to 1 = 4.10 gears, etc."
The difference wont be much but if its definatly more than 3.5 turns it should be 3.73.
I just greased my slip yoke last night. I was getting a nasty clunk when I give it gas, let off, or shift. Either way It wouldnt hurt to pull the rear driveshaft, clean off the old grease if any, and relube it with grease or anti seize.

Interesting. I am going to get some video tomorrow. It does not shake or vibrate that I can feel, but the noise is weird. When the inside was gutted it was so loud you could not hear anything else.

No carpet, loose trim, backfiring exhaust with the blown out muffler right behind the cab (without a turndown on the pipe), and my door seals don't seal

Does anyone know if there is a place I can get this section of the rear quarter panel online or am I going to have to go to a junk yard and find it. Most of the rear quarter panels I have found online are below that area on the 4 doors.
