My Jeep was stuck in the mud for about 3 months! It drove fine after but one day I was driving and it was driving fine! When I shut it off. It wouldn't turn back on? We check for spark and there was none! So my buddy towed me to his house and when we got there I decided to try it! It started rite up! Drove fine for about another month! When I came back home shut it off and it was running fine! The next day no spark again! I traced it back to the coil and there is nothing! I don't know if theres power going into the coil but deff no spark coming from it! It did have a long boot on the plug so I put a pieces of metal in it and still no spark! SO IDK what to do? I checked the fuse too! Maybe the CPS but it would run for a second right and still would have spark from the coil right?! IDK any idea! I miss her! Stuck in the mud for 3 month and now this! DAMN
my buddy is having the same problem on his 93. right now were stuck at getting the coil out. theres two bolts on the bottom and unfortunately, both have nuts right between the block and the coil. so youre pretty sure its the coil right?

I got Grand Cheeroke Laredo 2001, 4.0L with 112,000 miles on it.
I JUST GOT IT and right away I'm struggling with this problem---> Random misfire !! Some times it starts to run normally for a short moment like nothing happened.
I tried most of the possible things already.
Spark pLUGS COIL PACKS,wires, pressures, fuel.
Car was at 2 diffrent shops and they couldn't come up with anything, so I took it to the Dilership.
After blaming the fuel and charging me $150 for draining & refilling -Dilership wants me to buy a new ECU for a $1000 with labor but they said that thay dont guaranty it will stop the problem(???), found a shop that gived me price of $350 for a refurbished one with new programing etc... is it the same ??
I know the car was previusly severely ovER HEATED, and not rally taken care of
(sorry for my English, its my 2nd language & its my first forum LOL) thanks for any help and advice

Hey most likely! Listen for the fuel pump! If it doesn't turn on its your CPS! If it does then its most likely the coil! I still haven't got mine running! I'm lacking the money! But I'm changing the coil first as well! Well let me know if you think its something else! peace!

Ok so I bought a 88 limited cherokee for $500.00 about a month ago. It ran somewhat rough but after an oil change it sounded better. I did a major tune up including new plugs, wirers, air filter, altenator, starter, six new fuel injectors, and surpenten belt, but the exuast is pushing out black somke. the enigne also idels at 100 to 200 rpm after about five minutes and sometimes dies! I am pretty sure it has somewthing to do with the injectors (becaue after I changed them the smoke started to happen) but I just don't know what. I tried replacing the o2 sensor and re-setting the computer. I think it is someting simple but I am new to the Jeep world. Can anyone help?...
have you tryed to put the old injectors back in?
hi, im need here but have some questions about doing an engine swap in my 94 jeep grand cherokee. it came with the 5.2l but when i got it, it didnt have an engine, but the jeep was free. so i had bought a 5.9l from a mid 90,s ram 2500. what do i need to make the swap work, what flex plate do i have to use and how can i make the motor mounts work? do i use the 5.2 mounts or the 5.9 mounts

My '94 Cherokee, is having an idle/fuel problem. When I bough the Jeep i was told that the problem was with the fuel senor but the '94 doesn't have a fuel senor or at least not in the diagram i'm using.
Problem: it idles rough like the fuel is getting clogged or like the flow of fuel is being interrupted. And everyonce in a while the jeep will die while I'm driving it, I then have to put it back in to Park and start the vehicle again.
Could this be the fuel filter? or the Fuel Pressure Regulator?
Thanks, Aaron

My 2000 Cherokee is making a noise like lifters are making noises or something. Sometimes the engine will just start to rumble offline, then it will come back, just sitting at idle. Oil pressure guage all of the sudden pegs out at 80 when it usually never got above 40, but only when gas is pressed, put in neutral it dies back to 40 super quick, press the brakes, it comes down just a bit to 40.
Refeuled, engine turned over for a few seconds as it died. The next try resulted in no attempt at turnover, just clicking. I stopped, got out my multimeter, checked the battery, 12.4 I think it was. Went back, started up fine, but acted as though fuel lines were clogged, felt real boggy but then no more problems. Had this one other time, like a year ago, and that's been it.

Hello Everyone, I am new to the "Jeep Family" I am very excited About My New Toy. I just bought a 99xj sport and I am wanting to clean it up and give it a tune up etc.. One of the things on my list is changing the gear oil in my axels and i'm not sure the best way to go about it, which oil is the best for it so on and so on. Any Advice or tips would be greatly apperciated....
I have a 1990 cherokee 5.6L straight 6... I am not a very experienced mechanic at all but have some knowledge.... I have had my jeep for about three years and it has always, up until now, idled around 600 rpm but lately i will be driving and when I come to a stop i realize that the idle is at around 1100 rpm and it is always random it does not happen all of the time... I am thinking it is something in the Vacuum line but cant find any leaks!?? And through the past couple of days it has been running like total crap and seems bogged down when I hit the gas! It seems to putter while pushing on the gas but it is normal when I let off. If you could please help me it would be greatly appreciated! I know it just has to be something simple to fix I just don't have enough experience to know for sure what it is and don't have money to be trying to fix sensors here and there. lmao
Thanks guys
Thanks guys
I have a 89 cherokee inline 6. I just had water pump changed and now it will not shift gears. It is an automatic and I have never had problems with it till now. I checked the fluid and everything on the throttle body seems to be working. If anyone has any ideas i would love some help.

Hey guys.. where to start.. lets see i noticed that when i got off the highway and pulled into my friends driveway that there was a pretty bad leak thought it was oil and so i checked the oil it was a little low so i put more in(have never leaked before)... next day i was driving on the highway and was getting to about 70 to 75 mph and all the sudden i saw a lot of smoke so i pulled over and there was a trail of some liquid leaking from the bottom and a big puddle under the car... went home checked my oil and transmission fluid and they were both full.. idk what was leeaking and why? any ideas would help thanks

Mine is a 2000. I gave up after a while. I was afraid I would screw it up.
If you are changing your injectors just unhook the throttle control linkages and rotate it up and towards you. It will now allow easy access to the injectors.
The throttle linkages just slip off by hand.
