I JUST GOT IT and right away I'm struggling with this problem---> Random misfire !! Some times it starts to run normally for a short moment like nothing happened.
I tried most of the possible things already.
Spark pLUGS COIL PACKS,wires, pressures, fuel.
Car was at 2 diffrent shops and they couldn't come up with anything, so I took it to the Dilership.
After blaming the fuel and charging me $150 for draining & refilling -Dilership wants me to buy a new ECU for a $1000 with labor but they said that thay dont guaranty it will stop the problem(???), found a shop that gived me price of $350 for a refurbished one with new programing etc... is it the same ??
I know the car was previusly severely ovER HEATED, and not rally taken care of
(sorry for my English, its my 2nd language & its my first forum LOL) thanks for any help and advice
where are you from? have you tried to replace the cps?

no, no smoke at all.... For all I know is that it is idling fine (despite the noise/knock), just bounce a bit between 0 and 500 rpm and always looks like it is going to stall.
I put some 91 grade fuel in it and it does look like it is helping a bit... but might just be a placebo effect
I have run a compression test and apparently I have 2 low ones (5 and 6).
I mean it is a 23 yo jeep with 200K on it, I am not expecting it to run like a newer one, just trying to make it as good as posisble

you have to mach the same flow rate of the renix injectors, the HO injectors will not work unless you re-map the map sensor.

Ok, did you remove the throttle plate from the TB? if yes you must put it back on in the same exact way it was before, if you notice the plate has chamfered edges and matches with the TB bore. If you don't get to have it right, with some pliers slightly bend the throttle lever where it rests on the adjust screw (don't even try to turn it, it won't) until you get the right idle.

I have not removed the plate, but I will definitely check that tonight ....
Just to confirm, if I am able to adjust the TPS with the voltmeter and it stays stable, then I can be sure that it is not faulty right ?
Thanks man...

yeah it definitly WASNT the alternator, and the tranny was decalred fine,....so you think i should pursue this wiring/charging system angle?
also if im facing my engine from the front on the left hand side almost in the middle about halfway down is a sensor coming out, cant find it in my manual..whats it called? also it seems theres only one wire coming out of it ...does that seem right
Thanks

I have a 2000 Jeep Cherokee Classic. My problem is, while I'm driving the odometer & speedometer either drop to 0 or they independently go up & down. Sometimes the seat belt light goes on. The car doesn't register any code for this problem.
Any ideas, my mechanic can't find anything wrong.

What happens if you hit the dash? Try to unplug the connectors and clean them.

only 1 wire ,cool....so as far as my other problems though....how would you say to check the charging system to see if thats the reason my volts jump up to 20 when under a hard shift?...alternator and battery are fine....could it be wires coming to or from them?..
thanks again stefano.....
