XJ Ask the Question Thread
I have an 89 cherokee xj limited 4.0. when i start it, the starter keeps running and wont shut off. even when i shut the engine off the starter still runs and tries to turn the engine over. i replaced the ignition switch and had the starter/ solenoid tested and its fine. i have to turn it off by grounding the wire coming from the solenoid to the starter relay on a nearby bolt... any ideas??? thanks
Another question regarding my 99 Cherokee 2WD. With the key turned on (just before starting the engine) I hear what sounds like a motor of some kind run for a few seconds then stop. Like a window or antenna motor or something small like that. It's towards the back of the Jeep. My rear wiper works, but the washer fluid does not. Any ideas on what this could be?

Your rig is mad at you for taking it "grocery shopping". Have you ever seen Maximum Overdrive?
Stay away from pop machines & go hit some trails in it. It will thank you for it.
In all seriousness, you will prob have to crack the door open and track it down. Sounds like loose connection. Could be computer though. Moisture on a contact/relay somewhere. Hard to tell. Jeeps are infamous for electrical issues.

I take my Jeep Wrangler to the trails and it really loves me.

Just filled my tank. When I went to start the truck, my thumb slipped off the key while cranking. I tried again too quickly, and I got a lovely grinding sound that made me cringe. I let it sit for a few seconds and tried again, and now my seat belt buzzer doesn't work. I checked the fuse, and it's good. Gauges are on the same fuse. I have idiot lights, but they still light up when I start the truck. Frankly, I wouldn't miss that buzzer a bit, but I wanna make sure nothing else failed. Any ideas?

Hey guys,
I recently traded my beemer convertible for an xj and i'm loving it. I've been fixing little things here and there but the one problem I can't seem to figure out is when I put it in reverse and give it gas the motor acts like it wants to stall but doesn't... it just idles up/down/up/down rapidly and slowly gains speed backwards. I don't think its a tranny issue but I'm new to jeeps so who knows.
Any help or ideas would be most appreciated.
Thanks, Roscoe

Feeling kinda lazy today and searching seems like it would take to much time, anyway does anyone have a write up on putting racing seats or grandchee pillow seats in a 94?
