price against the leading parts stores... autozone has 3 year warranties on there remans and are only $1200 for a HO and $1000 for a renix... with you giving them a core... i think the cores worth like $300 to them... if they cant beat that then wouldnt waste your time... ask them what all they did to the head and block... any machining and such...

Thanks for the help so far, however, your pricing is a bit off or AutoZone charges more here in NC. See attached photo.

The local shop told my dad that he has several is stock already and he charges $1250 + Core of $200. He said he can install it for a grand total of $2100. He also includes a 24 month warranty.

If yours runs pretty well, I would leave it as is. 236k is still in its adolescent years so-to-speak. Mine has 196k, but has a lot of issues. The PO's were an old couple who kept it garaged but had no mechanical know-how. I think they changed the oil in it 10 times since 1988 when they purchased it and we got it with 138k. Ain't that a shame? Anyway, that's contributed to a lot of issues. I lack horse power, bad oil blow-by, bad compression on the 6th cylinder, oil seeping from the head and valve cover and most recently horrible misfiring and backfiring. I've done my best to take good care of her, but the damage was done. I'd love to get a stroker, but the money isn't there at the moment... He does those too, just don't know what he charges.

Ya. Other than needing all the sensors tested and the tps adjusted he runs pretty good. Has a high idle issue at start up were it randomly kicks up to 2 or 3k for a min though. Do imma clean some stuff and set the tps and go from there

Can anyone recommend a good steering stabilizer? And, would I need a different one, if I were to eventually go with a 3.5" lift?

The two engines from AutoZone that I posted are $1,499 + $285 core and $1,479 + $375 core.

Advance AP wants $1,685 + $285 core for theirs.
