Most simple way to determine the size pipe you have is to measure it. Use a caliper or tape measure. I don't know much about the diesels but most XJ exhaust pipes are 2.25" diameter.

Thank you.

Indeed, totally agree with you. Unfortunately I can't do that because my car was at my home-town.

My car is a petrol engine and she has a standard exhaust piping. If you said so then i could proceed using that measurement. What result if I've got the wrong diameter?

Calm down, posting in every thread you see won't help you at all, instead, you will be ignored.
Remove the serpentine belt and turn all the pulleys by hand, until you find which one is locking.

diesel? could be everything... at that speed it's prolly a worn shock absorber but i'm guessing. Is it associated to a vibration?

Will pre 96 gas skids fit a 99? I can't get any of the mounting brackets to line up with the holes on the framerails.

Nothing of major importance but I used 4wd the other day while doing my oil change, Just used it to get up the ramps a bit easier. Since then (about 3-4 days) my 4wd light stays on. I know it is not in 4wd or anything. I have tried backing up, driving it normally, putting it in and out of 4wd several times and jiggling the 4wd handle. Still the light stays on.

Again no major issue as its pretty easy to tell when 4wd is actually on. Just wondering if there is some other easy fix for this. My next move will to just put electrical tape over the 4wd indicator lol.

Oh and yeah I would remove the neg bat cable if I could get the dumb thing off. The Previous owner felt it necessary to crank the clamp on so tight that the battery post and clamp might as well be one solid chunk. Planning on cutting it off and replacing it at some point, just have not gotten around to it yet.

Oh... also. What are the most common causes for belt squeak. The belt I have looks fairly new. I don't see any cracks, or anything that looks out of the ordinary. There does not appear to be any grease or oil on it or anything. Would it be an ok idea to take a rag and run some degreaser over the surface of the belt just to be sure it's clean.

Or do they typically stretch out after some use and need adjusted. Never really messed with belts before aside from having them just plain break and needed to replace them.

It pretty much squeals constantly now but it started by only squealing while dry, If a little water got on it it would quit.

thanks for any help.

I just finished doing this to both differentials. You need an RTV Liquid Gasket or similar. You remove the fill plug and loosen all bolts. Let oil drain into pan, remove the cover and remove ALL traces of old gasket from both surfaces. Put the sealant on the cover and around the boltholes and put it back on the differential and finger tighten the bolts all the way around in a criss cross pattern. Let it sit for around 1/2 to an hour and tighten them another 1/2 turn or so. You should be good to go.

The front one is a pain, you will need to move other parts out of the way or get creative with a flex extension on your ratchet.

I used this: http://www.autozone.com/autozone/acc...er=526665_0_0__
