XJ Ask the Question Thread
Hey all I am new to this forum and to the Jeep community. I just bought a 2001 with the six cylinder engine and auto transmission. The gear shift selector needs some adjustment as it does not indicate the correct gear it is in. When it is in drive the selector points to neutral and so on with the other gears. Has anybody else experienced this and, if so how do you fix it

I thought there were two plastic prongs on that thing, though that does seem to be the issue, I'm sure you can pull the shift bezel up and re-position it forward.

i have two jeeps. 96 auto and 98 stand. eng in 98 needs rebuilt. one out of auto is a great engine and the 96 needs trany and other things. so im putting the auto engine in my 98. the question is will there be any problems with the switch? i work a lot on cars and what not i just have not looked at the differences in the engines, herd that the crank is different? no hole for the pilot?

Or save your money and DIY...go to the bone yard and find yourself some F-150 coils or ZJ coils, some Dakota leaf springs, and you'll have lots of money for new lift shocks and discos.
The remaining money can be well put toward beer!
Here's a writeup. A little old but just as applicable now as it was then.

Just asking for a quick poll.. Time for New Tires, before winter. I'm driving mostly on road/highway. I'm all stock. So, sticking with a 235x75x15..
Question is:
Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac vs. General Grabber AT2 ?
Goodyear gives a little more tread depth, and (in my opinion) a better look. And, I want something a little more aggressive look than the radials on there now. But, there is a budget in here somewhere, and Grabbers are about $40 less per tire. So, preparing for winter, which would you guys go with?
Or, would you recommend something else, entirely? All opinions welcome here. Thanks, guys!
