ticking is normal as the engine ages. Knocking is what you have to worry about.

remove lifters and clean the reassmeble. most just deal with it since its pretty common. so common many thinks its normal. its not going to kill the engine though.

Default T-case problem

So the other day I drained my T-case fluid and when I pulled the plug a small spring droped out with a bullet shaped piece on the end. Many people told me that its some kind of tranny spring, but i couldnt see something going all the way to the drain plug of the T-case from the tranny. Its a 1990 xj auto. Much help needed. cant stand my jeep just siting there it needs to get dirty.

My 89 jeep is having brake problems and it doesn't qualify for the recall. I have minimal brakes and the master cylinder has been replaced recently. Were should i go from here? I looked online and it looks like it might be the pump motor , but im not sure.

Minimal brakes doesn't say much...does your foot go to the floor, or does minimal mean there's not much brake pad left? If your master cylinder was changed recently, you should make sure that the lines are bled properly. Also do a simulated emergency stop and re-bleed. If you are still having problems braking, I would look into the calipers and make sure they are working properly.
