My XJ 4.0 Lifters began the 'diesel tap' and I read in the forums to add MMO as a substitute quart with the other 5 qts and perform a 1,000 mile oil change. Since doing so, they are louder and heavier. I also had a drip at the front seal of the trans and was advised by a mechanic to add Lucas Stop Leak/Slip after removing an equal amount of fluid. Now I have trans slip. Any advise besides a rebuild?

yea, stop using oil additives and fire your mechanic.
Billions of dollars are spent developing oil - you think they would leave out anything you didn't need so you could buy a $4 can of some additive the throw in it? I don't think so. 9 times out of 10 it does more harm than good, as you have just seen.
What oil are you running? Should be 5w-30 in the engine, and DEX-Merc III (multi-vehicle atf) in the transmission. Anyone that says different shouldn't be working on your jeep.

OK, composure has returned... Since the... GENIUS added ATF+4 to the DEX, that is most likely why it's slipping after never having done it before, along with the Lucas garbage.
Question is- with filthy 201,000 mile oil now integrated with 24oz of Lucas and about 3/4 qt of ATF+4... should I ride it out fingers crossed until I can possibly afford a rebuild or drain and refill?

There has been a popping sound coming from my front right wheel and my jeep has been wobbling on take off. I originally had a bad u-joint on the front right wheel and had both front u-joints replaced, but still have the problem, just had tires rotated and alignment done but still have the problem. PLEASE HELP!

I'm not say you're wrong, but I've been told by Chrysler/Jeep that you're supposed to run 10w-30. I'm fairly certain my factory manual suggests 10w-30, too, but I'd have to double check. I always thought you run a thinner viscosity oil in the colder months, like 5w-30, to not put some much stress on your oil pump.
