XJ Ask the Question Thread
This thread is for all those who would like to ask something tech related and don't want to start a new thread or hijack someone elses, and for all those tech related questions you happen to ask in the big off topic threads. Me and some of the older members will answer every kind of question as long as it is TECH and polite.
P.S. for the newbs: stupid questions don't exist, there are only stupid answers. Feel free to ask whatever you want. "What is a Jeep?" is a good question....
EDIT: If your question is very common (eg: lift) please DO A RESEARCH FIRST and if you don't find the answer come back here, 75% of the questions can be answered within a 5/10 min browse using the "SEARCH" button on the black banner menu.
For any lift & tire questions go here first: https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/all...go-here-10579/

Hey everyone. I bought a 2wd 90 4 dr 4.0 cherokee for $300. I got all the 4wd parts, brackets and shifters from the U-Pull it yard for $450. My question is about the front drive shaft. I have the NP231 T-Case but the front drive shaft I pulled is out of a NP242 XJ. Just wanted to know if they are compatible or if there is one that is better than the other. If so I will just go to the other U-Pull it yard and get the specific NP231 one.
Thanks
Thanks

Alright..
92' cherokee sport
D30 - front
D35 - rear
4.0 HO
5 speed
completely stock engine.
last night went out in the desert with a few friends and was just driving down a well beaten dirt road when my engine just shuts off. cant turn cant stop well. try and restart, but it wont actually start.
I do the usual once over to see what came unplugged this time. nothing obvious. Starter motors strong turning over the motor, Batterys not weak. so we check fuel. plenty of pressure. Plus i can still hear the damn pump screamin away. So we check spark. Its not sparking.
I look underneath to see if Ive leaked anything and notice the o2 sensor's wires are frayed and smashed and burned from hanging below the oil pan and above the axle. not sure if that would stop it from starting so I just fixed it with some extras onboard. Well that wasnt it so I hit the fuse box next and sure enough the Engine Control 30A maxi was blown. So my buddy with an xj gave me his for a sec and it worked. Went to walmart blah blah blah got it started went home.
my real question is Would the O2 sensor's wires shorting on something as soon as I hit that dirt road, cause that fuse to blow? I wasnt doing anything out of the ordinary. I'm confuddled
