is there a computer in a 90 cherokee laredo?
i mean, i'm swearing it has something to do with the pump. before when i turned the key i could hear it kick on.ran like that since i owned it, ran perfect. now, i turn the key and nothing at all. it fires up, revs to 3000rmp and chugs and dies. to me that seems like it gets enough gas to fire but not enough to keep running.
i've replaced the filter and ballist thing to no avail.
i'm just needing some serious help on this, hopefully from someone whose dealt with this. i'm not trying to be a dick about this, i apologize if i do. thanks again and i'm sorry fer babbling.

Sounds like your fuel pump is gone...when you turn the key to the "on" position (not starting it up), you should hear the pump actuate. If you don't hear it, it's probably caved.

ive got a 99 xj. has the 4.0 i6, c8.25, 4x2, and i believe aw4 tranny? mot sure. anyways i want to convert it to 4x4. its in really good shape, runs great, and was free as a gift from my dad so i dont want to sell it to buy a 4x4 with an unknown mantinance/ use history. i know this one has been well taken care of since its 1st drive home in 99 when i was 10 years old. Anyways, i heard somewhere that to make it 4x4 you could take the tailpiece on the tranny off and bolt the correct tc onto it and add the front driveshaft, shorter rear driveshaft,, front axle and shifter to it and it would be 4x4. is this true? or do i have to replace the tranny with a 4x4. id like to keep it automatic also. any tips?

make sure to empty the gas in it lol. can easily be a 1 person job with some patience but lifting it up helps a good bit in just letting you have woork space under it. the tanks not so heavy itself. im a lanky skinny kid and i did mine no problem.

okie dokies then. i did have a jack, it epically failed when it tipped and my jeep was up (replacing brake cylinder thing) on the rdriverside. almost taking my head with it, the post to the jack bent and is useless.
where i live, its pretty much "do it yourself or it doesnt get done". my g-pa is saying its the computer in the jeep thats causing all this.
i'll just leave it be till October, then i'll start on it.
thanks fer the help.

does it lock using any of the buttons up front? What about the lock button on the door itself? Do you hear anything when you push the lock button. If no for all of tthese open the door up and also check the wiring going through the door frame grommet. A wire could have broke iis all. Happens with chrysler wiring. It sucks but easily fixable.

I have been working on this for a long time on and off and I am completely stuck. I have a 96' Cherokee Sport, manual, 4.0L. For about a year now none of my power locks work on all four doors. When I hit the button on the driver door or passenger door the relays click under the steering column.
I know many people have had this issue but this is where mine has gotten weird. My switches are good, my motors are good, my relays were replaced. There is power going to the relay from the switches with the pink/purple wire and the orange/purple wire. Coming out of the relay the pink/black and the black/white going to the motors have no power which is the problem.
Another thing I noticed on the wiring diagram is there is power going to the switches from a fuse, which is why my swtiches work, but then there is a green wire that goes from some 30A circuit breaker straight to the relay. When I tested it the green wire has no power either. The diagram says that green wire is always hot so I am assuming that the relays is not getting the power form there it needs to juice the doors. The problem is I cannot trace that green wire to anywhere. I see it disappear into a giant mess and its gone. Can anybody help?

The grounds before the relays were good, and the relay grounds were good. After the wires come out of the relay there is no more grounds. I really think its the power with that green wire, but I can't track it to anywhere. Only thing the diagram says is 30A Circuit Breaker/ Hot at all times
