I just have a bad thing happen --
Stoped by uncles Christmas eve, on leaving - getting out - I backed out to street, put it in D and put the peddle down . mmmuhhhh ! WTF? tried again... downshift to 1-2 - and it goes fine.
Well I get all gears -BUT- it won't automatically shift - up or down!
Ok it has -occasionally- been making a whirring / whinning noise ONLY when I back up - if I push harder on the gas...
I didn't know what to think - there was no other symptoms until yesterday... :-(
I checked the Fluid there looks like there may be aluminum ..? or something finely ground ...
Any ideas - advice - fixes?

Here's a pics of fluid and dip stick - when it was Warm the fluid went up to my Red mark - - - too full? :-\ - I did top it up months ago ... ?
I think I'll loosen the trans - cooler line - maybe loose a quart?? but I'm not too optimistic at this point!
[I had a mechanic look it over and do basically a tune-up he also swapped throttle-bodies because it was 'easier the adjusting the TPS', etc(?)] surprised he didn't check fluids.

2 things.
You're a wimp if you can't adjust a TPS with my tips.

1 - thank you
2 - Yeah I have adjusted that before - and I did just go double-check just because ... your advise is usually good.
3 - I may not have described the situation very well:
It WILL NOT shift automatically.
to get started forward I need to downshift to 1/2 gear, then as RPMs increase shift to 3, then 4.
If I stomp on the gas from stop, it will slowly move forward - like a manual in 4th gear - actually it's worse, but doesn't die.
The transmission is only going into the gear I manually put it in.
Would a worn rear transmission mount cause something to come loose and do this?

The fuse to the TCU can be burned/corroded. Check it out.

Yes - I checked the fuse looks good - and tested good.
Unplugged and re-plugged the TCU .
Then I found this^ it looks like a plug-in Fusible link?
-- I tested it for continuity - nothing - If this is supposed to be a Fusible link it seems bad - unless it is supposed to have a high resistance.?
- well I tested it again 1300 ohms .... ?
So, - You think it's most likely the computer -- not mechanical?

More than likely, whatever seats you pick up will come with the sliders (rails). But you won't need the sliders if you get the ZJ seats. Just unbolt the sliders from your XJ seats and bolt them to the ZJ seats. Then they'll bolt right up. (I've heard some say the seats are direct-bolt in, but I don't see how that's possible as the XJ seat sliders are wider from what I've seen).
As far as the REAR seat goes... you can use the ZJ rear seat, but it requires some modification and is not nearly as simple a process as the ZJ front seats. Just look for "ZJ rear seat swap" on google and I'm sure you'll find several write-ups outlining the process. I don't know of any other seats that will work. I know the WJ 99-04 Grand Cherokee) seats will also go in with some modification, but they require a little more modification than even the ZJ seats. Neither option have top anchors for child seats... unless I've missed it somewhere.
I should also clarify, ZJs are from 1993-1998 Grand Cherokees, but I don't believe they had an adjustable headrest until 1996.
Other parts... well.... If it's a v8 ZJ and the steering isn't sloppy, you can grab the tie rod (from the left steering knuckle to the drag link). The v8 front coils should also give you about 1" lift over stock. The bolt pattern is the same on the wheels, so if you like what you see there, you can snag them too. If it has an overhead console and you're good with wiring, you can grab that and make it work. OH! And the disc brakes in the rear. Grab everything off the axle housing. If you have a D35 rear end, grab the axleshafts for spares.... and grab the front axle shafts for spares. Front ZJ driveshaft will be good for if you lift your Jeep and to an SYE later on. That's all I can think of right now man.

Are key codes for 93 Jeep Cherokee really no longer available?
I read that they were available and Jeep was very willing to sell me the base but then they couldn't cut the key! If not what's my best option?
Thanks!!
