What Engine do you have? So far I have bracket, accelerator cable. If you give me engine type then i prob get you a part number.

Default Engine Control Computer Problems

I took my '98 Cherokee to get inspected and when they hooked it up to the computer it wouldn't connect. I took it to another shop and they hooked up the code reader and it connected fine and again on the inspection computer, no connection. Do I need to replace the wiring harness for the connector or the entire computer?

Thanks Helek. This is some great information.
I am having some similar electrical problems (dome light not working, oil pressure, and amp meter intermittent, slow front wiper and delay not working, rear wiper not working).
The jeep had no radio in it when I bought it. This gives me a idea where to begin.

yea...normally when it works...like happens about 30% of the time...when your cruising you can feel it kinda lunge forward and see and hear the rpms drop.

i can also tell cause the engine gets rather warm at 65 mph...which shouldnt happen...caues im going 65 mph. fans shouldnt have to engage at 65 mph. i did flush my radiator...a new water pump new hoses and new thermostat so dont say its my cooling system haha.
while going about 65...my rpm is about 3200-3500...which is not right. and when it does lock...the rpm at 65 is alot lower. i dont want the extra wear and tear on the engine and torque converter...

oh and you can also tell it doesnt lock by hitting the gas slightly...when its locked it should feel like your driving a manual trans car...so the rpms increase with your speed increase compared to an automatic trans car..which is the rpms rise up before you start accelerating...at highway speed you can feather the gas press it slightly more...and youll see the rpm increase without a speed increase where as when it locks...the engine doesnt speed up soon as you hit the gas...if thats an understandable example.

Thumbs up Mystery jeep part

hey all'

I'm about to replace my harmonic balancer in my 1990 cherokee 4.0l, i took the front skid plate off and some kind of part fell out. It's some kind of soft material and it was in between the skid plate and the engine. It looks as if it was bolted on at one time but it has seen better days. here is a pi;

What is the name of this part? Part number? Where to get a new one?

The only use I have found for that is to help keep mud out of my alternator.

I have another question....

http://www.xtremeterrain.com/ruggedr...herokeexj.aspx

It says this is a frame stiffener, where would it go? Has anyone used this or known anyone that used this? Is it even worth looking into?
