Hey Guys...Does anyone have any info on oil pressure sending units, and symptoms of a bad one?

My jeeps a lot better, but still seems like its running rough, and the oil pressure is higher than normal...(past the halfway mark)..Anyway just a thought--maybe its just because its got high miles and its older, and its not a big deal after all?--just wanted to hear some opinions

i've been reading on roof racks... seems i have one of few without the factory rack. i really don't think i'll use it much, but would be nice to have the extra storage option when we take the dogs with us.

is the stock roof rack decent? how does it attach? i can get a used stock for probably $100 or so, fancy ones are like $500+. should i pony up for an aftermarket or custom?

'Evening y'all. Bought an 01 Cherokee Sport 4x4 60th Edition.

This is my third XJ (previously a 91 and a 93) drove the pee out of them but this "new" one is the first with power options (windows, locks and mirrors)

So I got one of these new fangled types with switches for each of the four passenger windows, with a master lockout to keep the kids from having too much fun. SOOOO... that being said I have control of the master panel but each of the remaining 3 local switches do not work with the lockout in either position. So is there a high failure part/fuse/switch I should look at.

most times the lockout switch itself is to blame. You can bypass it or replace it depending on your needs

 

I have a 96 Cherokee 4.0 and no owners Manuel. I'm in need of what all the fuses do in the power distribution center. one of the big fuses 30A towards the front inside keep blowing thank you.

 

Front sway bar link has broken. I need a new one but was thinking it would be better to spend on disconnects for the future lift..... Opinions? Options?

I did get the power mirrors sorted out... they work now.

One last thing... is it now illegal to install a switch to disable airbags in the event of a munchkin in the front seat. It seems this one is too old for the seat pressure switch and only some of the wranglers it seems had the switch as a factory thing.

I am curious as to whether that's a state or federal law.

 

In my experiance (91 Jeep w/161,00) (w/conventional oil) Sits at about 1/4 mark when at idle and when accelerating quickley about 1/2 to just over half. Sometimes a little more depending on the speed. Highway is usually above half. There are some other things that i have found that are very simple but can cause the rough feeling but can be fixed fairly quickely. For example the ccv or pcv oraface going into the intake can get clogged easily and can cause some issues.

 

Oil pressure on these trucks is a blithering mystery.

I've had Jeeps that sit at 40psi regardless of RPM, others will idle at 5-10 psi, then hit 40 at cruising speed, others like yours sit above 40.

The rule of thumb (As I have heard) is 10psi per 1000xrpm.

My 97 XJ would never show any sign of hesitation, but oil preasure would drop to 0, triggering a "Check Gauges" light. After swapping 2 sending units, I caved in and bought a Matco Tools Oil pressure testing kit. Guess what, damn thing sat at 40psi the whole time!

Oil preasure is definitely something you don't want to overlook, as the oil pump itself has been known to give out after some time. Buying an inexpensive oil pressure tester -

is a great way to be on top of a common problem.

 

IMHO I would steer well away from modifying safety systems... plus how much are you going to trust your mod? You sure you have the right wire? How would you know?

 

can i get some more details as to how you got your window working? i have the same problem all windows work great from the drivfer seat but not on there own. thanks.

 

Steering problem:

Traveling down a straight stretch of road, if I hold the steering wheel completely still it will track straight for a few seconds but will want to wander after that. I haven't noticed a preference to one side over the other. What should i look at first? I have no vibration.

It is a 2000 Cherokee Sport with the 4.0L I6 and stock size tires and no lift.

tie rod ends, ball joints and play in the pitman arm. If it doesn't prefer one side or another I would check steering components instead of wheel alignment.
