are you getting just the lift kit or the hole rig? the way to tell is if its a short arm the lower control arm will hook into the stock location. a long arm will go beyond the stock location and hook to a diffrent crossmember. and it will look like a y closer to the front axle

This has probably been asked before but I am having trouble searching on my phone. Yesterday day I drove 4 hours and the last 30 minutes I started hearing a knocking from the rear (sounds like its from the drivers side). At first I thought it was the exhaust or tailor hitch came loose but it got worse. It's loud metal on metal. Nothing is loose that I can see would be making noise. What could this be? I don't know much about suspension or even keeps so I could use some help. I stay in a hotel so I will need to take it to a shop to get it worked on. Any help would be greatly appreciative.
Thanks,

short arm

long arm

For spotting a SYE look at the rear driveshaft into the transfer case. does the slip joint appear on the drive shaft or up on the yoke? In other words if the knuckle appears right up on the T case then it most likely has a SYE.

notice the slip joint is on the drive shaft itself

Without further info it would be a guessing game.

Ty, it seems to have a 4" short arm, the owner's father (owner is in college) said it doesn’t have a transfer case drop so I'll have to go and crawl under it to check for a SYE.

If you have a rear sway bar check to see if it came out of the bushing. They tend to do that when going over a large pot hole.

Thanks. I will check both of these where I get off work and update.

Edit: should I be worried about driving it around if that's not the problem? It's a 1998 jeep Cherokee 2WD.

I have a 99 xj sport (147k miles) which started to overheat after my first "mudding" experience, lol. What i have done so far - flushed radiator , ran without thermostat (still heats up) thermostat is good , electric fan is good , also cleaned the reservoir (was cloged) , water pump is also good. Now it heats up slowly after about 15-20mins of highway driving to about 210-220. What to do now ?

Did you spray the fins of your radiator? It's probably clogged that way.
Anyone know the correct way to get the door pins out of a 99 cherokee. It looks like they're pressed in, or possibly rivets?
