This kinda happened to me, had the lights on and turned off the jeep. Lights were still on, no matter what I did they stayed on. I finally started the jeep again, pulled out the headlight switch (on) then pushed it back in (off) and the lights went off. Turned off the jeep and all was normal. still dont know why it did that.

It could be the fuel pump too. They tend to go out after 150k miles.
I am trying to figure out the best way to disconnect my airbags when I take it on the trail. I have a 2001 xj and I heard the airbag sensor is under the drivers seat. I was told there was either a fuse or the sensor you can disconnect. If anyone knows how to disconnect the airbags I would really appreciate it.

i have a 97 cherokee se, i went to install a new radio and i cut the existing wire harness off and spliced the the radios wires into those...after that nightmare i decided to put the original stereo back in < lol > i soldered the old wires back into place but now my instrument cluster, and rear tailights dont light up? Brake Lights work, the interior overhead light works as well as the headlights. Any ideas as to what i can do to fix this would be much appreciated

I have 2 questions...
I've got a 98 Cherokee SE, 4.0, 4wd, 148,000 miles.
1) Whenever I'm going slow (like 3mph literally) I hear a kind of popping, sliding, grinding noise from the front end. I'm in 2wd when it happens. Doesn't happen when I'm stopped or while driving any faster. Just like parking lot speeds.
2) After I shut the truck off, I hear a weird popping and gurgling sound out back. I'm wondering if it's the gas tank or maybe air in a fuel return line or something. It also smells warm sometimes, but not like coolant or overheating, bit it smells more like a bonfire. Strange, I know.
Thanks in advance!

Yeah, I have 3" bumpstops on the front and stock rears.
The thing that makes your turn signal blink on and off is called a thermal flasher. I'm not exactly sure where it is, but I'd guess that could be your problem, unless you aren't getting any voltage to the thermal flasher. Have you and your friend done any voltage checks?

Yea we replaced the flasher unit already but we havent done a voltage check so maybe one of the wires are not working to the unit
I have an 89 XJ that squeals incessantly. The water pump has been replaced, and we just replaced the AC compressor (with a salvaged one), it's got a new serpentine belt...and yet during acceleration it's a constant high-pitched squeal. I tightened the belt so that it can't go past 90 degrees but maybe I should tighten it more. There is one weird thing: The squeal was constant and came in a rhythm before the compressor was replaced -- now it doesn't squeal during stops/reversing, only when accelerating.
Does anyone have any more ideas? This couldn't have anything to do with the crankshaft or anything, could it?
