i have a situation, i just received my dynomax super turbo exhaust system in the mail. upon overview of my order i realized i got the GRAND CHEROKEE system. my question is will it work? or do i need to send this thing back and reorder, just been waiting awhile for it and really need to install.

Is there any advantage, in any situation, to using a slip yoke instead of a CV shaft? Cost notwithstanding.

Take a look. If there's an issue, it'll either be pipe diameter or inlet/outlet offset.

a proper sye not only improve the relation of the angle between the transfer case to the rear axle but it also is stronger over the stock shaft.

I do not see any advantage of the slip yoke in any situations.

If you can swing a single-cardan joint at each end there are fewer parts to wear, since there's no centering ball BS. However operating angle is severely limited. Single-cardan is also fairly cheaper.

But that's really only regarding the double- vs. single-cardan joint. If you want shaft strength, look at heavy trucks. Slip yoke is always in the shaft with bolt-up flanges for joints instead of this obnoxious splined output shaft business.

Question

When I'm in 2hi it feels like four wheel drive is momentarily kicking in when I am accelerating briskly from a stop and turning i.e. pulling out of a driveway. It is difficult to reproduce but a couple times a week I pull out into traffic and it feels like the front wheels are grabbing a little, maybe best described as a little chatter felt through the steering wheel briefly under acceleration.

98 XJ stock 4.0, 242, AW4, factory LSD. ABS 148k

I changed AT and TC oil a couple of weeks ago with no change. I've got 20k on the differentials oil. I'll change those when I'm home next week.

Any idea what could be going on here?

That's what I was afraid of. I'll give it another try but if they won't budge I may as well have the tires rotated and balanced along with the new stems and PLASTIC caps.

They didn't take long to seize up -- the tires are practically new! I guess you never know what trivial mod by the PO is going to bite you in the rear end...

Prob a good idea to ask in the kl section of the forum. Most here are xj owners who are not to keen on the 14-15 "cherokee"

I thought I saw a metal box for the rear that fits to the side for sell somewhere here. I've tried searching "compartment" and nothing popped up. Am I dreaming or is there a box for sale somewhere here?
