I think maybe it is a quick fix when a mechanic doesn't want to take the time to do it correctly.

Engine: 4.0 I6

1993 XJ 4.0L auto.
Crank, no start.

Replaced TPS and CPS, no change. Has spark at the primary ignition wire. I didn't check spark at the plugs.

Thoughts?

Check for fuel/ pressure at the rail? And also can easily do the poor mans prime too to ser about the check valve or pump.

Everything smells like fuel at this point lol. Wouldn't hurt to double check, though

Distributor cap and rotor. I would chase the spark further than the coil wire.
Also, if smelling fuel after cranking, perhaps flooring accelerator while cranking will help 'clear flood' and start it.

Rotor could be fried.
