I did a search on trailer towing didn't see anything on using a 5sp. My owner manual says auto only. I'm thinking of towing a 6x10 landscaping trailer with my RZR from Mi. to S.C.. It's got a tall gear 3.07 with stock tires. Any advice?

Well, you've got engine braking on your side, and no overheating transmission BS to worry about - instead you have to not burn the clutch out! (not hard). Unfortunately it's still a lightweight vehicle that can't stop well or keep heavy loads from swaying much. How much does the RZR weigh? You'll want surge brakes over 1500 lbs gross. Max rating is 3500 lbs gross. If it's a dump trailer that's pretty heavy.

I towed a 6'x12' tandem UHaul van trailer, grossed around 3000lbs I'm guessing. It was scary.

I need some help.

1999 Cherokee Sport 4.0 Automatic 4 Wheel.

I had a serious Freeze plug leak, so I removed the Intake, Exhaust manifold, Injectors, etc. Replace the 5 freeze plugs on the side with Brass plugs.

Re Installed everything. Replaced the anitfreeze and started it up. Took a couple seconds since the fuel rail had been off for a week.

Once it fired up it ran smooth but immediately surged to 5000 rpm before I shut it down. Let it sit while I checked everything visibly. Couldn't see anything amiss. Started it again and same thing 5000 rpm. May have gone higher but I shut it down.

What should I be looking for as a cause of this surge to 5000+ rpms.

Thanks for any help you can lend.

Under the steering box area

reference of where the drips drop, haha
If the inside of the air box is wet, you have major problems with blow by. Fixed mine by changing the motor. I had to carry a bucket, when I stopped, I set the bucket under the front end to catch the drips, worked for me until one of those"do-gooders" reported me

Yea, take all the nuts off, then go for a ride, they'll come off. LOL

Vacuum leak at manifold. The manifolds can be tricky to seat properly on guide pins. Took me a second attempt also.
Are you using a new manifold gasket? And proper torque rating and tightening sequence?

I know I had a hard time getting the manifold to fit properly. Yes to the Torque and sequence. I'll try again. Can I just back off all the bolts, pull it back and push it back in.

How do I tell if I am on the guide pins. I know the front pin is seated but I can't tell on the rear.

The rear pin is where I had difficulty also. I loosened the bolts, wiggled the intake and felt it seat into place. May be able to use a small mirror to see back there.
Otherwise, make sure there were no plugs/hoses removed from intake and not reinstalled. And that throttle bracket and cables are reinstalled correctly.

Thanks, I'll try that.

Is the speedo gear something that I should consider upgrading? Had my 31s on for a few years now with the stock speedo gear. What are the advantages to putting in one corrected for my tire size?

Not getting traffic tickets because your speedo reads low?

it is not something you "upgrade" it's something u should have done whenever changing ratios or tire sizes. Lol

Doesn't it also adjust transmission shift points on autos? It'd be a real dog if you went to 33's or 35's without changing the stock gear and/or regearing.

It's just the speedometer gear. Changing tire size or gear ratio means you also need to change the speedo gear accordingly. Otherwise the speedometer and odometer will read too high or too low.
