Figured out my rear driveline slop.

Didn't have any play when you grabbed it due to the axle side caps being fine, but the pinion side was blown. No bearings inside, mega pitted other parts! $19 later, its all good again.

Nice. That was the clunking in my J10 when I bought it

Default Worlds worst crossmember bolts.

Technically OEM here. Any advice on what to do? That stud is welded in (and not well) and not threaded all the way, that's why the t-case drop is rigged in there. One idea I got was to get custom nut strips and feed them inside the frame, but I don't own a welder, yet. How big are the nuts inside the frame, how far could I drill them out to and tap?

PS: I did not weld those in there. I wanted to have them either tap the holes or get the bolts out somehow. The studs are in the holes the factory bolts were in.

I forgot what the oe size of the thread pitch on the bolts/studs but I have heard of people drilling and tapping them to 7/16-14 with luck

'99 XJ 4.0L auto

Rapid, irregular tapping from under the Jeep while in gear and stopped. Goes away in Neutral

Are you testing us? lol
Classic symptom of an exhaust knock. Torque from engine while in 'D' changes the clearance of components.

That's what I was thinking, but I haven't looked at anything yet. I don't hear it once I apply throttle, but that's because of the exhaust note
