Are you shifting it correctly?
yeah i shift in as recommended and its as smooth as butter, but it just refuses to come out. I always have to stop the jeep put it in park slam the lever forward, jiggle it a bit, drive forward a few feet, push on the lever some more, put it in reverse, back up a few feet, and usually the jeep going backwards frees it.

Maybe try to not slam the lever down into 2wd, just do it nice and gentle until your part time light turns off. I noticed with mine if i tried to force it out, it wouldn't release from 4hi. Just something to try lol

So, shifting OUT of 4WD, you can't get it to work at speed like when you shift it in?

How's the fluid level and condition?

Have you poked your noggin under the Jeep to inspect engine mounts, trans mount, and linkage bushings yet?

The mounts were verified "good" by NewkindofClown and my89xj. The bushings are probably ...ehh... havent seen them, probably original. Do you have the part numbers?

I recently topped off the t-case fluid (dex/merc) twas pink and certainly didn't smell old or burnt out. The t-case took a half quart and was much quieter after.

ya, its was pretty scary watching alllll that fluid disappear inside, but this was a month or so ago...hopefully there isnt any irreversible damage. If a 242 comes on the market ill be sure to buy it. lol

Until then ill just deal and see if an adjustment and a few new bushings and a couple fluid changes gets her back up to speed

Tho bushings are probably stupid cheep (maybe?) that linkage from boostwerks looks to be a good deal, and seems to help multiple problems, from what I've seen.

Default Putco harness

I was on Amazon's site looking for a HD headlight harness, and they don't have one for a '94 ZJ Cherokee, according to the site. So, are folks using a universal type HD harness ?
My r/h headlight is a bit dim, and I figure I may as well up-date the harness before fooling with a dim sealed beam lamp.

I can make a harness myself, since I have all the "stuff" , but I'm old & lazy

Correct, ZJs or XJs are not listed in the official harness fitment guide. I think the original application is a Chevy S10 or something like that. I guess you COULD call it universal... it's a pretty basic unit!
