Is a ZJ front drive shaft the same same as the XJ.

http://www.myjeepxj.com/useful-infor...aft-infomation

According to this they are but just a little longer, which is good, since it is going in the rear and I was going to add 2.5" to mine any way.

ZJ front is ~2" longer than an XJ front.

Going to attempt a tranny drain and fill.
Why do people wait 500 miles to do another cycle?
I'd think a drive around the block would mix all the fluid up for the next drain & fill.
Seems like it would be easier to just do the 3 or 4 drains all in 1 afternoon;
If I can't find Dex3, I just use Dex4?

Because roughly 3 quarts are in the torque convertor. No, if your drivers manual calls for Dex 3, use Dex 3.

May the force be with you, Bimmer.

Floors: New pans are your best bet. Weld them in if you're able.

Overheating: Does it overheat above or below 15mph, or both?

You're saying it takes 500 miles for the fluid in the TC to mix entirely with the new stuff? I would think it takes just a few miles. 500 miles implies the fluid barely goes anywhere in the system while the car is running. That's like 2 weeks of driving.

Yep. Around the block would be fine.

I think it's more than that.

You're going to need a transmission flush machine.

It's an 88 with just under 122,ooo miles.. And just when in traffic, previous owner always had issue, and replaced everything! Haven't taken it out for too long yet, D you recommend also using an... Um.. Bed liner type material spray?

I was planning to bedline the floors in my Comanche, but I just left the carpet out and drilled drain holes since my rust was minor. My Wrangler will get the inside of the tub bedlined.

As for cooling, it could be the mechanical fan clutch if you're having problems at low speed. The clutch is a wear part that is often overlooked, and an old one won't spin the fan fast enough to provide adequate airflow at low speed.

I developed a tick from my jeep a couple of days ago.I fired it up and noticed water dripping from my muffler I ran my hands over it and could feel the air escaping from where the tube goes onto the muffler. Could this be causing my ticking?
