XJ Ask the Question Thread
Is a ZJ front drive shaft the same same as the XJ.

According to this they are but just a little longer, which is good, since it is going in the rear and I was going to add 2.5" to mine any way.

Going to attempt a tranny drain and fill.
Why do people wait 500 miles to do another cycle?
I'd think a drive around the block would mix all the fluid up for the next drain & fill.
Seems like it would be easier to just do the 3 or 4 drains all in 1 afternoon;
If I can't find Dex3, I just use Dex4?

Overheating: Does it overheat above or below 15mph, or both?
You're saying it takes 500 miles for the fluid in the TC to mix entirely with the new stuff? I would think it takes just a few miles. 500 miles implies the fluid barely goes anywhere in the system while the car is running. That's like 2 weeks of driving.

It's an 88 with just under 122,ooo miles.. And just when in traffic, previous owner always had issue, and replaced everything! Haven't taken it out for too long yet, D you recommend also using an... Um.. Bed liner type material spray?

As for cooling, it could be the mechanical fan clutch if you're having problems at low speed. The clutch is a wear part that is often overlooked, and an old one won't spin the fan fast enough to provide adequate airflow at low speed.
I developed a tick from my jeep a couple of days ago.I fired it up and noticed water dripping from my muffler I ran my hands over it and could feel the air escaping from where the tube goes onto the muffler. Could this be causing my ticking?
