Ah yes, the lighter and power sockets are indeed irritating. I was not aware the plugs changed! There are metal tabs on the rear of the sockets that press against the back of the switch panel. Depress them with a screwdriver, fingers, pliers, whatever, and the sockets will eventually come out the front of the panel.
You'll need to elaborate a bit on the "two power sockets"... the lighter and original sockets are the same, just on different circuits (one switched and one on the battery)

Regardless, still can't seem to figure out how to remove them. It seems like there's some little square holes in the metal body that lock onto some plastic tabs, but I don't see any way to release them?

The bolts are kind of special, odd shape and size that lets you get them installed and get some wrench on it. The dealer should still be able to get them, part number 6036-415AA, $1 each last time I bought them.

Cause I didn't have instructions lol, and because I didn't know if the aftermarket DS would have the same pitch as the OEM front. I just spent $2.22 on hardware, and my CV thread is definitely 5/16x24.

First pic is of the power socket. It is mounted on a raised lip (about 1/8") sticking out from the front of the panel. Second pic is the cigarette lighter, I realize they function the same but they are indeed different. It's mounted in a recessed circle on the panel. Third pic is the whole panel, lighter has the white connector, socket black. You can see how much longer the lighter housing is than the power socket. but I don't know if u can fit a wrench over the head of bolt on the yoke though.

- lighter has a bit more vent
- they're mounted in different holes in the panel (can't put that handy "12V DC" on the lighter side)
- the sockets and their holes in the panel are keyed slightly differently
I already tried this swap lol it just doesn't work.
Yes

Is the transfer case the same as a transmission? Meaning that if you haven't changed the fluid frequently on a high mileage tranny then you shouldn't change it at all? Just a thought since I have to fill my tcase up tomorrow anyway and it uses the same oil.
