If you do end up getting one - a full fluid change (differentials, transmission, engine oil, coolant, transfer case) should be first on your list, along with a complete tuneup.

I had cylinder 3 misfire and after changing the spark plugs they told me it was either the spark plug boot or the ignition coil pack that goes over the plugs. since a boot was $3 and a pack was $130. I decided to try the $3 part first and see if it worked. It's been about 2 weeks and a few hundred miles. So now I'm deciding if it just needs manually reset or if its the ignition coil pack.

Where should my volt guage be? Replaced alternator today. When i fired it up i am pretty sure it said 14v. But now its down between 9 & 14. Is this normal?

I do not currently own my jeep. My Girlfriends mother owns an 89 Jeep cherokee laredo. It has a somewhat new transmission, and a few more things were replaced but they do not know exactly. They are women who do not know very much about vehicles, and I know enough to have an idea what could be wrong and enough to remember what got fixed. Her mother has agreed to GIVE me the jeep! good news right? The only thing i know is wrong is (and this is her description) when you go over 55mph, and hit a bump, it goes like this for a few seconds (she then held her hand up flat and rocked it back and forth quickly) Any idea if this is a problem that model has? an idea of what it could be? And my final request is there a thread on here or a website that can tell me everything i need to know about the cherokee laredo? Thanks!

Seems a bit low. Were any accessories (radio, a/c fan, headlights, etc) on when you took that picture? With NO LOAD on it the volt gauge should read about 13.4v. The gauge is fairly normal if you had a few accessories running at idle.

There is no one dedicated spot for all the information you could need. I would start by finding out the basics - which axles/differentials it has, what transfer case, what engine, what transmission, etc etc. Jeeps came with quite a few different combinations.
These should get you started:
