I usually use and analog device to do my swr tests.
So for the mount, should there be a good metal to metal contact between the antenna stud and the mount??

ummm...that's a Dana 30 axle u-joint, not a driveshaft u-joint. You may want to double check your source on that one....

I hope I'm posting this message correctly and in the right place.....
I just purchased a 2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport and noticed a cord was freely hanging loose around the transmission tank. This Jeep didn't come with a manual and I haven't been able to find a diagram on the net I can use so I can figure out where this cord plugs into. I tried searching underneath the jeep myself, but couldn't figure out where the cord should be plugged in at. The cord that hangs freely isn't cut, ripped, or damaged in any way. It's simply unplugged and hanging free. I posted pictures of the cord from different angles.
Does anybody know what this cord is and where it plugs in at?
Does anybody know where I can find a diagram so I can figure this out?

I'd appreciate any feedback/suggestions you guys might have. Thanks

What your calling "ground wire" may or may not be the case. I call parts and wires different names than what they may actually be. If you can provide some decent pics it would help us out a great deal;
1. The pic will show where the problem may be.
2. It will give us a chance to "oggle" your rig, jeep people like looking at all jeeps!
When you reattached the grounds you took off, did you make sure the connections were clean of mud and grime? Could you have loosened a connection that you didn't realize? I say this because I had to check my rig three times befor I found a missing ground.
The third pic (at the tail light housing) shows what appears to be a ground connection. Is that lug "sandwiched" between the housing's lip and the metal mounting-plate/bracket? If yes then that is not a good mechanical connection and it will degrade electrically. Remember the old sage "a good mechanical connection is a good electrical connection"?
That lug needs to be anchored to the metal with it's own fastener, a star washer and a generous splooge of dielectric grease too. If you clearance-bore that hole in the plastic housing then you will have the direct fastener/star-washer connection needed to anchor the ground lug securely.
