In Full-Time 4x4, you can leave the transfer case in 4x4 full time / all of the time
In Part-Time 4x4, you can only use 4x4 part of the time (when on loose/slippery surfaces).

I have a 1994 Jeep Gran Cherokee Laredo with the 4x4 FULL Time, im guessing its a Quad-Trac Transmission but im not too sure. i looked in my owners manual and thats what it said but also listed a few other transmission type, by the way, my engine is a V-8. so my problem is I bought the Jeep for 1000.00, clean exterior and interior and in amazing shape but now the Jeep will not go in reverse, and has troubles shift from time to time when driving. I know my tranny is going out but im trying to make sure i buy the right transmission for my year and type of Jeep. any ideas or answers would help out a ton!! thanks guys

You have a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee (ZJ) with the 5.2L v8, NP249 Quadra-Trac transfer case, and 46RH 4 speed Chrysler automatic transmission.
You will need ALL of the above information to select the correct transmission that will bolt right in.

Hey,
I wanted to see if anyone has the instructions or a how to on rebuilding a 1990 4.0 power steering pump. I want to make sure I put it back together correctly so I don't have to do it again.
I got it all ready to re-assemble but I can't find instructions on how to put it back together. There is a pin that I want to make sure is place correctly ect.
Thanks,
Paul.

My 1990 was doing the same thing. It was the Throttle position switch on the Throttle body. The little bar that rides on the linkage some how got under the TB linkage and it was not rotating with the throttle body linkage. I bent it back into shape and put it where it was supposed to go and it started shifting correctly again. Also, look/listen for vacuum leaks, sometimes that will cause a problem too.
I recently traded for a '96 Cherokee with a "blown headgasket". I have always wanted a Jeep and jumped on it when I got the chance. When I removed the head I found that the headgasket was intact but the #6 cyl was missing and the connecting rod knocked a hole in the cyl wall. I belive the H.O. head is still good however and i'm now looking for an engine. My question is can I use my head on any year model 4.0 without modification (accesories, ect.).

I'm pretty sure the plugs that were in there were from the factory in 96 lol...so plugs, cap, rotor and wires got changed..def a difference!
