Its been awhile since I had a non-glass pack exhaust... does the offset go on the outlet or the inlet?



This thrush welded is apparently one way and I thought the offset went on the outlet.

 

Offset what? I'm confused...just point the outlet to the *** end of the Jeep and you're good to go.

 

Outlet is centered.

 

Lol. That's what would've happened if I didn't get a response.
I really only asked because I wanted to make sure I got the right muffler and didn't have to fight the tailpipe to get it in the hanger like I've had to do with the glass packs (no offset).

Ok guys I'm stuck.

I'm getting a code for my "Battery Temp Sensor" and it's keeping my check engine light on.

I didn't even know it existed til I pulled the battery out. I can't find one anywhere new, there are 2 on ebay that look like mine but are for 97+ (mine is a 96) not sure if they would work or not. Is there a way to bypass it? Or would the 97+ work?

It seems to only be on the obd2 jeeps.

 

This is just a guess, but based on how screwed up '96s are, if your '96 has the equivalent part found in a '97+, then it's probably the same part. I'd say especially so if you have the fuel rail that doesn't have the vacuum FPR.

The factory just used whatever was lying around that year. Yours probably has a cutout in the left inner fender for the late model washer fluid reservoir, too.

 

Would a loose bolt on the throttle body make it hard to start the Jeep on the first attempt? I mean like a crank and no start on the first try, then turns right over on the second one.

 

Loss of vacuum would happen if u didn't tighten the TB bolts

 

So is that possibly what's causing the crank no start symptom?

 

If after tightening the t/b down it won't start on the first try give it some throttle and see if it starts.

 

Giving it some throttle it fires right up. You think that's the issue then?

 

Whats the most efficient way to remove a large area of paint and rust? Wire wheel or electric sander?

 

The IAC could be sticking. Pull that TB off and give everything a cleaning. Get new TB gasket.
