The only difference is the inner diameter. You do not want to put the rear elbow with the teeny tiny hole in the front fitting lol. The rear elbow looks just like the front except with a restrictor jammed into it.

I got ya, that's what I was saying about the inner diameter.
The replacements I got from Napa must not be factory then, my front "elbow" is a solid unit with a huge inner diameter.
Here's a pic...

The elbows changed several times over the course of the 4.0L.

Hello everybody,
I have a 1999 jeep Cherokee 4.0 with 4 wheel drive. Recently I noticed a vibration that happens when I drive on the highway starting at about 70mph. The car has a 3in lift in both the front and the rear but it also has horrible leaf spring which have sagged down to stock height. We have gone through and checked the pinions, wheel hubs, and for any movement, but there was no movement and it was all tight. We proceeded to pull the front drive shaft and start checking u-joint rotation and there was nothing suspicious, same with the yolk. We kept the shaft out and went for a test drive to find there was no more vibration with the drive shaft out. Luckily I have some contacts with extra drive shafts so we swapped one of theirs in and test drove. The vibration was still there and just as loud as it was with my original shaft.
Tonight we are gonna pull the diff cover to check the gears for any damage. If that all looks good then we have no idea where to look next so if anybody has any suggestions as to what to look for what please tell. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you

Oof. Read 18,000 how-to change valve cover gasket threads aaaand, as anticipated, it's the allegedly easy stuff that is tripping me up. PROB 1 -- I'm having trouble disconnecting the CCV (got front one-whatever is is- off readily). On CCV the rubber connectors will move around for me but I can't get an actual disconnect. Tips? Will try to proceed as far as possible and hope I can eventually get it off. THANKS in advance
...go ahead and add the ground too. I understand it just pulls off? Not mine. Go ahead and start the betting on total start to finish time haha. Hint: I'm 42 minutes into it!

How are you trying to disassemble the CCV system? Hope you aren't trying to yank the elbows out. Pull the rubber fittings off the elbows or tubes.
As for the ground at the back of the head it's a larger nut on an annoying angle on a head stud. Doesn't just pull off lol.

No the elbows are a hard plastic that becomes brittle over time.
Unless you want to replace the elbows too (a good idea actually) yank on the rubber bits like in this photo:
