XJ Ask the Question Thread
Thanks. Ill give it a try. D'ship parts place closed on weekend. I hate to do non OEM but assume I can find a suitable stand in at AZone or O'Rreilly?
...clearly there a lip on the elbow that the hose has to clear to get off. Can I use a screwdriver to help it slide or WD40?

This X2. You may as well swap them while you have the cover off. Make sure to note the difference between the front and rear as well. I believe the front is shorter with a complete opening, while the rear is longer with a restricted opening. My rear line to the throttle body snapped the minute I tried to disconnect. The plastic gets brittle over time. You may want to have elbows and grommets on hand and make sure your parts place has the lines in stock.

Bad idea on the screwdriver, the elbow will snap. WD40 maybe but remember it's a vacuum-tight seal that already has oil vapours inside.
Yeah non-OEM for these isn't a big deal. Indeed '98+ uses a short version of the front elbow. I was lazy and used a taller one from a previous year, no issues yet.

I removed my track bar in order to get the new oil plan in place. In the process, I made a mess of this hole. Do I need to do something to fix this and if so, what? Also, on the other end of the track bar the ball joint is clunky... movements are jerky, not smooth. It's stiff and feels solid though. Is this an issue or something that will be good enough until I get a lift installed and replace it in the next year?

Hit and miss hard starting on my 1991 XJ
I replaced the coil, CPS, cleaned cap/rotor, did plugs and wires. I checked the fuel pressure the poor man way, I pushed in the valve stem on the fuel pressure test port and it squirts almost to the fuel rail when its having a hard time starting, when it starts fine it shoots across the valve cover. I am pretty sure it is the fuel pump, I was thinking about getting a delphi fuel pump/sending unit assembly (my sending unit acts up sometimes and gauge doesn't go to full) for 100 bucks from autozone. Has anyone else used this pump? I hate airtex , spectra only has a 1 yr warranty, and I can't find a carter with the sending unit assembly. I like the idea of delphi lifetime warranty, since it doesn't look too hard to change the pump if it fails again. I was thinking about saving up for one of these as well http://www.ebay.com/itm/290895982589...84.m1423.l2649
