Well I'm a dummy, just found out the tie rod end is supposed to twist. It just seems that the bushings on that end and on the drag link end are pretty ****ty looking.
My main issue is this: I can't get the axle nut off to replace my hubs. I've tried impact, then I tried a 4 foot breaker which ended up snapping the 3/4-1/2" adapter that i borrowed from a mechanic friend. I've sprayed it, everything. Please don't tell me it's reverse threaded!!
Thanks

Drove the 20 miles to work today in pretty high heat. Truck has AC but I was not using it. I have a habit at glancing at the gauges (I drive a 2000 with 189K so I have too) and all was normal the whole way here. I pulled into the parking lot and smelled oil. I immediately looked at the gauges and temp was at 210, slightly higher than normal but not hot and oil pressure just a little below where it normally runs. I saw a little smoke coming out of the engine compartment.
I killed the engine, popped the hood and looked for signs of oil. Nothing. Nothing leaking underneath either that I could see. I checked the oil, it was full, but looked a little blacker than usual.
Car cooled down, I started it back up and everything looks normal with the exception of the oil pressure. it is still just slightly below where it normally runs. It usually runs just under 30-35 @ idle.
What should I check first? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Sooooooooo relieved.
Thanks for the tip.
I was at my local pick a part and sitting under a mid 90's grand Cherokee was either the Dana 44 or Chrysler 8.25. I didn't have my phone to verify which one it was I know it had smashed bottom, don't remember if it was rounded or sharp edges but it doesn't look like my d35. My question is this. They want 190$ for the entire axle. For mild to mid trail riding would it be a good idea to spend the money? Or could I just get the differential for 32$ and it still be an upgrade?

Also, on another note fill out your info so we know what year, axles, trans and engine you have so we can better help you.
1999 xj, I replaced the switches on the driver's door, repair the wires in the door jam on the drivers door, they all unlock and lock with the key off , but when I start the veh it will only unlock the doors and not lock the doors . driving me nuts !!

In either case you'd need the entire axle, and you'd need to cut off the suspension and weld on leaf perches. Same amount of effort as something like setting up a Ford 8.8", which is an actual upgrade.
At least you will have lots of new reliable wiring when you are done

The only way to change that is to increase the distance between the main leaf eye and the centering pin on the leaf pack.

Thanks. So basically don't waste the time or effort on it, the d35 is fine for now. If I got the gears out of the differential, would it give my 87 2.5l more get up and go?
