Must be that damn switch right? The thing I wanted to avoid fixing by upgrading my harness, ha ha.

I have each lamp assembly grounded individually, they seemed to be good. It seems weird they'd just burn out one day like that? or the ground on the harness? I know ****all about electricity.

So.... to clarify... you've already upgraded to the HD harness or you haven't?

So someone on the internet with a 2000 XJ said they replaced the CPS, got a misfire, threw code for ignition coil, replaced with JY unit, really bad misfire with flames out the vac inlets on manifold.. Thoughts? (Here's the link)https://www.reddit.com/r/CherokeeXJ/...GP&sh=8f19506e

Yep I've got the re-route harness so the switch is just firing relays, not taking any real juice.

Gotcha.... well, a visual inspection of your switch should tell you if it's bad. Usually there will be some melted plastic involved and burn marks. HOWEVER, using the continuity setting on a multi-meter will verify.

After that, it's just a matter of checking the relays, which many have reported that the relays that come with the PUTCO harness don't last long at all (not sure which harness you went with). I've been fortunate enough with mine, I put mine in about 4 or 5 years ago and they're still working fine.

1990 Cherokee Laredo 4.0. Need help!!! Im new to jeeps and no mechanic. I bought it a while back, ran ok. Then is started to miss, so i replace cap, rotor, plugs, and wires... Same issue. So i replace fuel filter, same result. Fuel pump thinking maybe it sucked up some sediment from tank. Still missing!!! So i go to the local mechanic shop seeking advice. He tells me injectors, so i pull the injectors, blow them out, problem solved.... So i thought, after buying new injectors and installing them jeep rund good for a couple days, now it wont start. Replaced the distrubtor tonight and it still wont start. I need some advice, please.

Your Jeep is a Renix. The absolute BEST advice comes from http://www.Cruiser54.com or Cruiser54 himself on here. Go there and follow the tips in the index and you'll have your motor running in tip-top shape in no time.

With the key off - what is the resistance between the ground lugs from the harness and the negative post on the battery?

Do you have 12V on the original headlight connector when you switch the headlights on?

I need to know if I can use 4.0 HO out of a 91 Cherokee going into a 97 grand Cherokee Laredo? I am pretty sure the blocks are the same, but that is about the extent of my knowledge.

Yes. Use all the sensors and accesories from your ZJ on it. Blocks are the same.

So I could use block and head from the 91, and the intake and sensors from the 97. Sound right

Correct... make sure you use your flex plate from the 97 too as the pickups for the CPS will differ between the two model years.
