Both blinkers work, all brake lights work and all the running lights work

I checked all the fuses and visually checked the trailer harness. Havent looked in the tail lights yet though. Any other ideas?

I should have clarified - I only engine brake when on a long descent, I just want to know at what speed it is safe to shift down into 1-2

Got mine from autozone, like $15 bucks a pop, with warranty so I decided to give it a shot. Slid right on, and yes I do mean the bearing it's self. Then the 'cover' piece drops right on. Easiest way, just don't cheap out on the bearings, get a good warranty on em

It's more a matter of RPMs than speed. If you're going to do it, rev the engine a bit so you're in the proper RPM range for 2nd gear at whatever speed you're doing. This would be the same RPM as if you shifted to 1-2 while stopped and then accelerated to that speed.

I do it in my Camaro to go from OD to 3rd under certain circumstances Goose it, downshift, release throttle after the gear change.

Edit: But your Jeep will be very unhappy if you use that method to drop speed.

Yes... especially since you can't force it into neutral without mashing through all the gears. That almost sounds worse on your transmission.

Use the supplied gasket with the water pump, or use blue rtv? Or both?

I use a little black on both mating surfaces with the gasket in between.

Odd question maybe, but is it possible to reverse wire the fuel sending unit?
When you add gas to my daughters XJ, the fuel gauge shows near empty - the longer she drives it, the more fuel shows on the gauge, almost like it's working in reverse!

(I am planning on replacing the whole assembly, just hadn't run into this before)

Yep absolutely. On a '90 the sending unit is just a basic potentiometer

So I was gonna disconnect my sway bar today and I noticed my bushings are looking really worn out.

But my real question is this, I've been getting some bumpiness/vibration from the front end, and I was almost positive it's my front U-joints, there is some play in both of them, more on the passenger side. Anyway I was wondering if my bushings being so shot have been causing part of the noise/vibe?

(I'm still gonna put new u joints in, but this could have been hurting my ride, right?)

Yes everything in the front end contributes to (poor) ride quality

Might be dumb. Would some nice thick 1/4" angle iron welded to the rocker be a good reinforcement for the rocker? I've never hit my rocker and don't play with rocks, the occasional hump or tree. Wonder if anyone has done this and if it'll form to the rocker well for support.
