I would wait to install the 33's on it if its a long time before you upgrade your gears.Your clutch will suffer and engine will run hotter..
If your your present tires are shot then safety first.... obviously.

Then why do you ask? if you get a deal on 33s and are planning on 4.10 gears than the answer is obvious.

My YJ has 33s on 3.07s with a 3spd auto. I just floor it or get in the right land when I go up hills. I'm getting ~15mpg, which isn't bad for what it is. Lots of highway driving at 70-80mph.

Alright thanks. Trying to get what I can out of the 89 parts jeep inside my 98 before I scrap the 89. If anyone needs something pm me. Interior is nice and has electric everything and almost all options I think. exterior is junk. Anything you guys think I should keep off of it just incase? The 98s steering wheel is pretty messed up, the 89 is great shape and looks cooler. Might have to move my cruise switches if I did it, don't wanna lose that option.
