Just PB blaster for a night before i last worked on it, didn't make moving it any easier. The jeep moves it fine but it's a pain to work with. I bought it used and last time i did the oil after everything was over a year old as far as lift parts on my jeep I re-greased all the zerks, wonder if the old oil didn't want to mingle with the new oil. I used multi-purpose auto grease from walmart.

Default New Motor Mounts = more vibration

Hi. Hope I didn't miss this somewhere but can't find it by searching - I had new motor and trans mounts installed when having the clutch replaced. Told the shop stock type replacements. But now I have more vibration than I noticed before. Only notice it at idle and low speed mostly. Is it possible they didn't align them right or something like that when they did the install? Thanks for any insight.

Some people say that after new motor mounts that they notice some vibration but that it goes away after a little driving. If the shop replaced them with a poly bushings instead of rubber ones then you'll notice some more vibration being the poly bushings are more firm than the rubber ones. Or the shop couldve overtightened the mounts which could cause them to not absorb vibrations as well.

Weird electrical issue:

When you turn the left turn signal on, the odometer flashes and if you hit the brakes, the odometer will just stay dim. Doesnt do this with the right turn signal

Then I noticed if the headlights are off and you are on the brakes, all the interior dash/shifter lights light up and the odometer dims.

Both blinkers work, all brake lights work and all the running lights work

I checked all the fuses and visually checked the trailer harness. Havent looked in the tail lights yet though. Any other ideas?

I am just going to replace both the multi-function switch and the motor for my windshield wipers. There are so many XJs around here being parted out, I can get the parts super cheap. I have a 2001 XJ. Does anyone know how far back in the year of the car can I go and have the parts still be the same?

Thanks. They weren't supposed to be poly - might just check torques then. Appreciate the reply.

Anyone know if a 6 ton hydraulic press will be enough to press new bearings on to my carrier and pinion? I don't really want to spend a lot on a shop press just for one job.

Here is a link to the one I am looking at:

Alright so I got my valve cover back on with a nice rubber gasket. Eliminated the heater control valve. So I did the oil filter adapter today, everything was fine until I got everything back on, if the bolt for the adapter is a little loose it let's the adapter move back and forth about a 1/2 inch, it shouldnt move at all because of the locating dowel right? Oh I've got the vertical renix adapter if that matters.

Anyone know if wjs without a towing setup in the back come with holes in the chassis for mounting a towing setup.. i want to go pull a tow bar off of a wj in the junkyard and am wondering if the factory made all wjs with the ability to just bolt a tow bar to the chassis..

Not sure about pinion bearings, but for the carrier use a propane torch and Heat them up, and they fall right into place and tighten as they cool
