Have you tried putting it in 1-2 and trying. You sure you are in 3rd going up the hill and not 2nd. I gotta ask

Check to see if your CEL bulb is operational.

Hook up a quality scanner and see there are any DTC's pending. There might be a lockout solenoid circuit or transmission input speed sensor and/or output speed sensor DTC lurking.

Is there a DIY thread on how to fix/replace door hinge pins? Mine on my '99 XJ is failing causing the door not to stay aligned while open.

Is this also a hard job to do?

I have some areas like this where the metal is just pitted, should I cut these out and replace the pieces?

2. I've read so many threads about bed lining an XJ that I can barely think straight. So I know that I'm going to bed line it, I'd like to not put the carpet back on but there's these wires

Attachment 235499

(The 2 large bundles) that would really annoy me just being uncovered. So how have people relocated/hid these wires? Could I just cover the front foot wells with a large rubber floor mat and screw it down to cover of the wires?
Anyone? I'd really appreciate some thoughts on how to hide those wires.

its working. I have an E fan override switch and when I flip it, it always trigger a cel. So I just did it now and the cel came on.

And no codes before I flipped the switch.

First take a look at the hinges themselves, make sure the welds aren't failing.

As for the pins, I'm not sure if there's something specifically to fix sag but I know it's oft discussed amongst people who go doorless. Try looking at the doorless mod writeups for some ideas

When I put it in 1-2. It indeed stay in 2nd gear. So when I came to the incline, I shifted it up to 3 and it stayed there until around 3k rpms then it dropped to 1,600. Did that mean it went in overdrive even though it was placed in third?

What was the max rev in 2nd when going up the incline? This is tickling my curiosity. Im pretty sure I've had mine in 3rd before with no problem. Not sure if the XJ would force a shift and at what rpm it does

Anyone know what the absolute cheapest rear tire carrier bumper is? (Excluding rope, or build it myself)

Check junkyards for a stock carrier, you'll need the bumper and bracket on the quarter panel. Year range is from 87-91?
