Quick question... I got off the highway after a 30 minute drive and checked the coolant temp using my obd-II reader... Showed 214 (from what I've read, XJs run around 210...). Is this an ok way to check the temp or is there a more accurate method I can use?

Not sure about the gauge but I do know is when the thermostat opens you can see th gauge drop a little. Mopar thermostat. It's now parked nose down hill in my steep driveway cooling off. When it is cold I'm going to swap temp senders just to be sure and to make surer there is no air trapped in the head.

This is probably a stupid question.
Would heavy duty springs be really stiff? Would I be sacrificing a smooth ride?
They're priced the same as standard and you gain a little lift. A little lift is all I need.

They are stiffer, but shocks have a bigger impact on ride quality.

FYI, the stock springs on XJs are nearly flat. Replacements might be the same. My Jeep sat at exactly the height it was supposed to when my springs were flat. I'd advise you to look into that a little more before you buy new springs expecting much curve. I can't tell you much more about it myself.
