This is driving me insane. I just spent $38 on my third thermostat in the same amount of months. Never gets up to opp temp, upper hose is Luke warm while lower will hurt to hold for a while. Both heater hoses are the same way, hold them a while and it hurts.

When I changed it today here is my process. Drain radiator via drain plug, pull expansion tank cap, remove thermostat housing and thermostat. Scrape off gasket and clean the area. Reinstall new thermostat, gasket and housing. Pour coolant in housing and upper hose until they are full. Reinstall hoses, tighten clamps, and topped tank. Reinstalled cap and fired it up. Just sits right here.

Where are you getting your thermostats at? If its not a Mopar thermostat than spend the extra cash and buy one.

Have you tried a full flush. Pull the lower hose. And what are you refilling with?

SYE question. searched didn't really find anything definitive. I'm gonna be doing on SYE on my 96 auto. It's my only vehicle so I can't exactly put the SYE in to take measurements from the t-case to the axle and then go drive to a jy to get a d/s or have one made up. is there any way I can figure out what d/s I'll need so I can have it before I do the install that way when I'm done I can just bolt it up and be good to go?

Have you checked with a infrared temperate gun?

Maybe have a bad sender or a stuck gauge?

Measuring is the best way. Do the SYE and you can drive FWD to the jy. Most kit make for a xj front DS but its best to measure to get it right

So if I'm adding a sye to my 95 XJ to accommodate my 6.5" lift do I need to buy another whole drive shaft?

well by the time I'm ready to do this it'll have a lunchbox locker in the front so I don't really think driving in 4hi on paved roads with that would be a good idea unfortunately.

maybe I'll just cheap out and do a t case drop :/

why do SYE's have to be such a PITA

Yes because the driveshaft is completely different

Could you PM me and help me thru this. I just purchased 6.5" coils, 6.5" lead packs, four shocks, double sheer trac bar and bracket, UcAs, Lcas, extended brake lines, drop control arm brackets and a drop pitman arm.

I know I have to get a sye. But haven't a clue about having to have another whole drive shaft.

If you don't have a rear driveshaft installed and you put in 4hi, you won't damage the TC. It'll be like having a locked rear. Doesn't mean drive crazy but normal driving Willie fine

Same as the other user. Install the SYE and measure. You may need a ZJ front driveshaft for the extra length. There is a chart around that shows front driveshaft lengths for xjs and zjs

wow durr. didn't think about that lol.

I can't believe there's no definitive answer though. I mean I could understand if I had swapped axles and stretched etc, but everything on my xj is pretty standard.

RE 3.5 lift with AAL and shackle relocation brackets that lift ~1" I feel like that's relatively common. I just wish I knew if I could just pick up an XJ front ds and know it'd work. urggg.
