Another way to check Rustys bushings are smaller than factory size you need to measure b4 ordering. Rusty sells a poly replacement set along with the rubber ones.

Seems like and visual confirmation make a world of difference. Could be a rim offset issue if both rub .Maybe previous owner adjusted steering stops to compensate for offset which will greatly limit turning radius .

How could I tell if it was welded? Is there a certain way it will drive? The jeep drive well I mean it's got a big lift so I don't drive it over 65 it's top heavy ect. It's my daily driver some people say that's a dangerous set up as a daily driver.. If it is welded what are your thoughts?

Hello,
Thanks for the wonderful thread and allowing new guys to post. SO heres my issue, after alot of research im stumped here. I have a 2001 XJ lifted with a 6.5 rusty s suspension lift. The steering has all been removed and changed to a over the knuckle component, the coil springs have a 1.5 inch spacer and the rear leafs have about a 1.5 inch one. My issue is i have no steering radius even after a aliment. When the jeep is about 60% turned the rear passenger wheel will hop like crazy like steering bind however i have a drop pitman arm to combat this? There is no front sway bar but there is a rear one? could this be the issue? not allowing flex? I have heard take out the leaf blocks however with such a small amount not sure if that really causes it? The ONLY thing i can visually see is the bushings in the leafs are worn out they move around alot, and the coils seem to hit the wheel when turning? Not sure about this one i have owned many lifted jeeps but the XJ has me SOO stumped! Any input is GREATLY appreciated

I think that particular problem is in rear axle, if it only binds turning one way or the same wheel binds regardless of turn direction its a problem on one side.
If it alternates depending on direction of turn, then as said before welded spiders.
This is an opinion and not always fact.
I'm not sure how steering bind and pitman arm would affect rear wheel issues, the steering would be a separate problem.
As Salad said, these guys will get you fixed up, there's some geniuses on here.

Time to test that TPS. Look for tjwalker's writeup. Also done this recently? https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/free-quick-fix-41821/
Likely because the engine surging thrashes around, tranny is just banging around on its mount. I imagine it's not brand new lol

I have a question:
1989 MJ 4.0, manual, 2wd.
Is the fuse box interchangeable with an XJ? What years work? Is the fuse box all one piece with the dash harness or does it disconnect?
I'm thinking that they are interchangeable except they'll have extra circuits for the rear doors and lights. 88-91? I'm also thinking it's all one piece. Fuse box/entire dash harness. Correct?
Finally, do you have one for sale? Friend of mine needs one.

So update here the rear is open. Took cover off and it looks great gears are all in great shape. U joints are solid. I really think a combination of rear sway bar and the damn bushing is what is giving me he'll. talked to pervious owner and he said the lift was done by the guy before he added the steering. So no welded rear any other suggestions?
