Uv joints can be replaced for under $40, cv joints are more costly not as easy to fix or replace unless you have a spare shaft. I'd say if the cv is cheaper to for it It will feel smoother driving in 4wd on dry surfaces when turning.

They are used on many awd vehicles successfully. Just keep an eye on the cv boots. Any open crack in them means imminent failure soon.
I have a CV joint on the passenger side of my front axle, AAMCO used it saying it would be cheaper. Doesn't bug me.

Yes. There is no limit of time or distance on 4wd using only front wheels with part time 4wd. Not recommended for full time awd transfer case.

Default 95 jeep grand won't lock

Neither electric lock switch (driver or passenger) will lock the doors. Both work to unlock the doors, but not to lock them.
I can lock the doors with the key or by pushing the slider.
Any suggestions?

Check the wiring in the driver's switch, if that's gone out it would take out the passenger switch too.

Nope no retaining/lock ring for the seal, just the bearing. What problem you having with the seal? Its gotta be pounded in eh (which is what she said)

Looks like the "old" seal is still in there, probably why the new one won't fit.

I hadn't driven the steel ring of the seal out...

It's out now, I also ruined the new one lol

I'll fix that bastard tomorrow. Had to drive the truck back home.

Default Gear issues

recently bought an '96 xj that just needed tranny work. jeep fires right up but when i push the clutch in and try to put it in gear it just grinds and won't engage.. there used to not be pressure in the clutch so i replaced the throw out bearing, slave cylinder, and clutch master cylinder. the clutch itself looked alright when i pulled the tranny out, but idk what else it could be.. anyone know what the hell my issue is? ha
