Interested in a push button start mod, without the need for keys. I don't care about the theft aspect; I want simplicity. Any handy links for bypassing the ignition switch and steering lock?

I'm gonna unpack and set up my computer to search, but I'd appreciate any info or links in the meantime.
Got my computer up. This write-up for push-button start is on a '94:

First question: Can anyone verify wire colors on my '88?

Second question: Can anyone give me an idiot-proof explanation of how to remove the steering locking plate?

Third question: Can anyone tell me what color the horn wire is? Locksmith told me he broke some little piece that was required for my horn to work, so I'm just gonna wire it to a button.

I have the tools to remove the steering wheel and lock plate, let me find you a video to help you understand what's going on in there.

According to Alldata, the horn wire is black. It just grounds a relay.

And this was all I could find for the ignition switch.

Does anyone know of a good water resistant carpet padding that I could put on my jeep? I was looking at carpet padding for boats but can't fond anything. I want something to reduce the road noise and the massive amounts of heat. I have Monstaliner in the jeep now.

On a gas engine I would get cylinder #1 on the way to TDC on the compression stroke then remove the spark plug.

Then I would feed in a bunch of clean thin rope to fill the cylinder.

Then when I turned the crank shaft bold it would compress the rope and stop things from turning so that I could get the bolt removed.

On a diesel I guess this could work if you remove the glow plug or the injector.

Good luck

...And again. I have the wiring diagrams, but I don't have them handy. I'll look closer tomorrow.

I just drilled into the bumper, but this does require removing the bumper to install the lights.
